The King's Speech has been up for many awards, winning a few. It is considered the main opposition to the "The Social Network" to win the Best Picture Oscar. I loved "The Social Network", and I believe it is fully deserving of all the awards it is getting. "The King's Speech" on the other hand, I do not think it deserves any of this recognition. The movie, to me, was a complete bore. Since when does a movie about the monarch automatically mean it gets award attention? The three main actors in the movie are all getting awards attention as well. Colin Firth was okay, but by no means as exceptional as everyone is saying he is. Geoffrey Rush was a huge let down for me. He character was suppose to be quirky and funny, and an outlier, but he does none of those. He seems like a regular guy? The thing that I really don't get, is the Helen Bonham-Carter praise. There was nothing even remotely close to being great about her performance. i found the script to be really stale, and the direction was weird. Tom Hopper , the director, tried to make the movie visually interesting, but it is really just distracting, and blah. I do not get the awards this movie has received.
