THE Secret

I first watched this movie three years ago when a friend loaned it to me without my asking to view it. I watched it and thought it was a bunch of hocus pocus.

At the time I was desperately looking for a new home and having a lot of trouble finding one (I had been searching for 6 months and my time was running out, I was desperate). She instructed me to ask the universe for what I wanted and to write down exactly where I wanted to live.

How did she expect me to believe in something as simple as writing it down and asking for it and it will be yours? It's a ridiculous thought, but I was desperate and at this point willing to try almost anything.

So, I took an old notebook (I didn't want to mess up may daily notebook with such rubbish) and wrote down "I want to find a house on Allen Avenue". It's the name of a street in my area that I really liked and wanted to live on.

Maybe two weeks later, when walking over to that street to do some visualization (as per her recommendation), I realized that the street wasn't named Allen Avenue, as I had written, but Clark Street. So I went to my old notebook, scratched through Allen Avenue and wrote Clark over top.

One year later I found the old notebook, and low and behold, I was living in a house on Allen Avenue, the first name that I wrote down and scratched out. I was shocked, how could this be? The universe took almost exactly what I had written the first time and made it a reality. I was humbled.

I recently signed the movie out from the library and I got a an unbelievable rush. I completely connected with what they were saying because I had experienced it first hand. I now know that I have the power to change my future regardless of my passed and my disbelief. Religion has nothing to do with it, for it is greater than any religion.

books/videos like this are good for people to start their spiritual journey when they don't have a belief in God. When you do it's very difficult because these books - including Tolle's books do not include a belief in a higher power - and that's where the spirituality tract gets lost.

In 2006, an Australian writer, Rhonda Byrne, produced a documentary movie called "The Secret". This movie is based on the book called "The Science of Getting Rich" written by Wallace D. Wattles in 1910. This documentary was created by Prime Time Productions of Melbourne Australia.

This documentary revolves around the concept of "Law of Attraction" and features several professional people such as authors, philosophers, doctors, physicists, business and spiritual leaders who talk about the power of positive thinking and its outcomes. This documentary elaborates on the different needs of human beings such as money, health, success, and relationships that can be achieved through a constant desire and positive attitude.

The documentary narrates the true experiences of people who succeeded in their true desires by applying the law of attraction. It also reveals that all great philosophers of past centuries applied this law of attraction to accomplish their goals and desires. The documentary also focuses on the term called "attitude of gratitude" which also helps in achieving what one desires for. If one thinks positive, it will attract good things in life and if one thinks negative, then it will attract bad things in life. The documentary also suggests that people release these positive and negative energies in terms of vibrations to which this universe responds back.

The documentary also suggest that the priciple of the Law of Attraction was suppressed and kept hidden from the public for many centuries by the people who were in the power.

Main theme of this documentary is to tell the audience that this secret of living a successful life is within one itself as long as one knows how to apply the law of attraction.

When I first heard of The Secret and its popularity on the best-seller list, I felt incredibly sorry for all of the people who had been conned by this modern day snake oil in the form of a film and a book. After watching the film, I have to admit that instead of feeling sympathy for those who have been conned by this film, I now mostly feel bewildered.

Within the first 20 minutes of the film, Bob Proctor, one of the "Secret Teachers," proudly exclaims that he doesn't understand how electricity works and goes as far to say that no one even knows what electricity is. Total rubbish and anyone who keeps watching after this point, other then for a laugh, seriously needs to take an introductory science class.

The Secret is full of other outlandish half-truths and lies... they mention the first law of thermodynamics in order to explain how the law of attraction works... but they completely ignore the second law of thermodynamics (the second law of thermodynamics completely voids their stupid argument using the first law of thermodynamics to support the so called "law of attraction"!) They also claim that the "law of attraction" is a scientific law, but the "law of attraction" is absolutely NOT a scientific law, it is a metaphysical concept from the 18th century and anyone who doesn't know the difference between physics and metaphysics should really be looking to buy a dictionary before they think about buying any other books.

Don't waste your time or money on this ridiculous snake oil. If you buy this, you've been conned.
