    Very angsty
    by foggygirl

I am going to see the Eclipse movie today so I re-watched the first two movies last night and I remember liking the movies more when they first came out in theatres. The movie is good for what it is which is an angsty teenage flick.

    Miscast
    by Lindsay

This movie adaptation pales in comparison to the book (which has some huge weaknesses in my opinion) I know i'm in the minority here but Kristin Stewart was miscast as Bella...she was overacting...the special effects were laughable and key scenes were lacking. For a book with such a huge following i would think the studio would have tried harder to be loyal to it.

    The book was much better

If you haven't read the book, I'd recommend reading it before watching this movie. The book is amazing. The movie did not live up to it at all. The visual effects were good, but the relationship between Bella and Edward was not developed enough. The movie was rather slow, felt "artsy-Canadian", and was more like a "highlights tour" of the book. I'm really hoping that they do a better job with New Moon.

    Disappointing.
    by Janet!

I am a huge fan of the Twilight book, but not of this movie. I found this movie very disappointing! They left out a lot from the book and honestly the acting wasn't very good. Kristen Stewert was a horrible Bella. She needs to learn how to show some emotion and take a few acting classes!!! The movie was very slow, it wasn't nearly as exciting and intense that it was said to be. Also, I don't know what the director was trying to do, but they took out so much of the romance and tried to replace it with humor. Twilight it not supposed to be a comedy! And if for some crazy reason you try to make it one, atleast don't make it suck! The only thing I found funny about this movie it's sad attempt to match up to the book.

    A Fabulous Movie
    by virgo8708

I wanted to not like this movie, because there was so much buzz about it and so many awards being given out for the movie that I wanted to be one person to not like it. However the first time I saw it I couldn't find anything to not like. It is such a great movie that I just watch it over and over again. I read the books after seeing Twilight and I think that the book and movie compare really well, of course the movie couldn't be exactly like the book but it was darn close. Even if you haven't read the books like I did before seeing the movie you will still understand it, but read the books afterwards :) Can't wait to see New Moon.

Good Movie But Book is Way Better
    by Teresa Medeiros

If I had one negative thing to say about this movie, it would be that the romance between Edward & Bella moved way too quickly for it to be believable. In the book, the romance took much longer to build up. But other than that, the movie was entertaining, great cast, and some of the special effects were cool (ie: baseball scene). The book is definitely better though.

A Movie to Sink Your Teeth In...
    by Alex Gingras

In my opinion, this is by-far the best movie adaption i have ever seen. The chemistry between Edward and Bella is done very well in addition to the excellent acting in this film. P.S: the sequel, New Moon, comes out on November 20 2009. Make sure you get in line early.

    Rating The Special Features
    by Buggy

I'm not going to review the movie here or go over key plot points. I'm also not going to talk about how gorgeous Robert Pattinson is. We've all seen it, we know it by heart, and we all love it. It's our brand of heroin. I am however going to tell you what I think about the special features. This 2 disk Special edition includes a ton of goodies guaranteed to please any Twilight fan. I have to say that this was the first time watching the movie that I didn't compare it to the book and I found that it stands very well on its own. Even if you've never heard of Twilight you will enjoy this. I had also forgotten how awesome Charlie is and I noticed that the special effects don't look quite as cheesy on the small screen as they did in the theatre. DISK 1 (122 minutes) EXTENDED SCENES: (5 of them) With director's introduction. Too bad these couldn't have been left in. Including an extended meadow scene, In Edward's bedroom, James don't play with your food and don't read Charlie's mind. AUDIO COMMENTARY: With director Catherine Hardwicke, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Watch the movie with Rob, Kristen and Catherine. This is really funny stuff with alot of teasing regarding Rob's driving capabilities, his eyebrows and aging (where's Efron?) MUSIC VIDEOS: Muse-Black hole (Stephanie Meyer introduces video), Linkin Park- Leave out all the rest (very cool live performance), Paramore-Decode(great video with movie clips as seen on Much Music) DISK 2 (78 minutes) 7 PART DOCUMENTARY: (55 minutes) The journey from page to screen. My favourite extra on the disk. Really interesting behind the scenes look at the making of the film. The stunts, the baseball game, the music, interviews with the cast and tons of unseen footage. DELETED SCENES: (5 of them) Again, too bad they couldn't have been left in especially the sexy finger biting meadow scene. Also a neat scene with Carlisle and Esme and the infamous "she's not one of us Edward." COMIC CON PHENOMENOM: (8 minutes) Where the screaming began. 6000 fans have a Q&A with Rob, Kristen, Taylor, Edi, Michelle, Cam, Catherine and Stephanie Meyer. THEATRICAL CAMPAIGN: (12 minutes) Teaser trailers as seen on TV, Sneak peaks (5 in all) Highly recommended, If you're a fan of Twilight than these extras are what you've been waiting for. Bring on New Moon.

I'd rather shoot myself in the face repeatedly than ever watch this movie again. Oh and I'm reminded now of something that completely bothered me about the movie (aside from the fact that the kid who plays Jacob looks NOTHING like a first nations person from the west coast. At all.) But more importantly: What podunk little town in the middle of NOWHERE Washington state actually has a salad bar in their cafeteria? I mean... seriously. A salad bar. In a highschool of *maybe* 200 students. Yer tax dollars at werk.

I disagree about Taylor Lautner, I think he does look Aboriginal.

    Nightfalltwen

Then obviously you don't know much about native peoples. Taylor Lautner He is mostly Dutch, French, and German, and claims *some* Native American (specifically Ottawa and Potawatomi) ancestry through his mother. The natives of Forks are part of the Coast Saalish nation and Coastal natives have a specific look to them. Ottawa and Potawatomi do not have this look. At all. I used to live in a heavily native area in BC, practically spitting distance from the Olympic Peninsula... Taylor Lautner is NOT Coast Salish nor could he ever, *ever* pass for one.

    Joely

I never said he was Aboriginal. I know he's more European than anything, all I said was he looks Aboriginal. Sure, he might not look like the Native's from the Olympic Peninsula but the point is, he still looks like a Native.

    A disappointment

I had very high expectations for Twilight, but after watching it, it did not live up to them, and neither was it even an okay movie. The dialogues were corny that the story did not seem serious. So many important details were cut out, especially my favourite part when Edward walks Bella to her class in silence and then touches her cheek. Their relationship developed too fast. Jasper looked odd throughout the movie. Only Alice (Ashley Greene) fit the role of how I imagined her to be when I was reading the book. The only part that was properly done as the book described it was when James attacked Bella. Overall, I don't think Twilight should have been made into a movie, because the book was nothing like a script and was not intended to become a movie. 1/5

They did cut out a lot of scenes, but you got to remember this was a low budget movie.

Yes, but the acting sucked.. and that really doesn't have anything to do with the low budget.

the worst film of the year
    by Wolf of Shadows

What do you get wehn you mix preteets, neopets, roleplay and noobs? You get Twilight. The film starts okey, pretty Canadian scenery of British Columbia and some brief backdrop on the story. But this quickly fades when the actors come on set. The acting is so bad it hurts, and you can't help but wince everytime one of them looks off cue or lacks belief in their lines. The story is just all but immpossible for older horror flick fans to pick up on. A lame group of vampires who only suck the blood of animals will make stephen king and johnathan mayberry fans roll their eyes. Instead of this being about a movie about vampires, it turns out to be some pixie kid flick with sparkles on the screen. Its as close to a vampire movie as the jonas brothers are music worthy. The film lacks any action, and for those who enjoy a good romance flick beware. The preteen genre lacks the teeth to be any real of a good film, not daring to step into adult shoes with blood, gore or sex while too old to be seen as a cutesie kiddie film for disney fans. Instead it just gets stuck halfway as being a prance about franchise designed to cash in just as Eragon and Narnia did. There are plenty of good vampire movies and books. This is by far not one of them.

I didn't think it was that bad, but I get what you mean. I laughed about what you said about the Jonas Brothers, whoever said they were the next Beatles should get their brain tested because nobody mentally stable could think that the Jonas Brothers are anywhere near the Beatles in pure talent.

    Wolf of Shadows

considering the other films that were out roughly at the same time...I would say Twilight didn't live up to what everyone thought it would be. Slumdog Millionaire is a nice love story. and Coraline was a good dark children's story, two things Twilight never achieved in the film. agreed on the Jonas Brothers. I honestly don't know why their famous.

    emerson entwistle

I want to see Slumdog, I missed it in the theater. I don't really want to see Coraline though, was it good? I know Twilight wasn't very dark, and the...whatever it's called that they did to the film...it was all blueish so everyone looked dead. jonas brothers...ick.

    Too Rushed!!!
    by Avid reader

I actually liked the movie, however, I thought that maybe it would have turned out better if it had followed the book a tad bit closer. We all know that novels never translate well to film, and almost never are identical. BUT COME ON! , the movie lacked emotion from all of the characters. Especially Bella. The book had you on your toes with anticipation and you could feel the emotion between the two leads. The film seemed rushed, especially in areas where it shouldn't be. For example, Bella's conversation with Jacob on the beach, the meadow seemed especially rushed (did I fall asleep when these two fell in love? Because I know I missed it.) I think the director was in such a hurry to put the film out that she forgot to show the audience how they fell in love. Such a shame, the novel was a,amazing for teen fiction. Hopefully the new director for NEW MOON, will do the series justice.

The book was well written and descriptive of the characters. The story captures the reader with the emotions that the characters are feeling and sweeps you up. A great book for teenagers and adults alike.

    Interesting

I was not blown away but I still found it enjoyable. Of course like many other books made into movies one has to remember things will always be left out and your own imagination makes the book so much better. I was not disappointed just wished it was longer with more detail from the book added.

    Pleasantly Surprised...
    by emerson entwistle

I have successfully boycotted the Twilight phenomenon, but my friend was going to drag me to the theatre whether I liked it or not. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. It is a teen movie, but it does have it's sweet moments, although the whole obsessed within minutes between Edward and Bella is annoying. But, Edward is really hott. I think you might be able to appreciate the movie better if you are a fan but even I, the only teen girl not in love with the books, could appreciate it for what it was...a teen romance, with fangs. I have to warn you that there were some almost unbearably cheesy parts, such as, "Edward, I would die for you" and the sparkling skin...ick. Overall, if you already know you love it, go buy a copy, but if you aren't sure, rent it first.
