    Wonderful Movie

Absolutely charming movie. Great music, beautiful picture. How to describe the story? It has its cute moments, sobering moments, funny moments, but over all it is an adventure you won't forget with a happy ending. In a world where good movies are in short supply, this is a modern classic.

Up is my favourite animated movie of all time (Despicable Me is my 2nd). It is a rich, well written story and you will get to love the 2 main characters. Just as there are in life, this movie has sad moments, happy moments and plenty of laughs. There is some beautiful scenery in this film and if you watch the bonus material first, you will come to appreciate the movie even more. Ultimately Up is about relationships. It helps to remind us that it is the people in our lives that make us rich not the "stuff" we accumulate as we go through life. My kids and I loved it and have watched it over and over.

    Over Hyped

I don't think this movie was as good as the hype. It certainly didn't appeal to the kids I saw it with. The beginning is a montage of the old guy's life and it's just plain depressing and left the kiddies squirming in their seats. The ending is scary with gun-toting bad guy and a vicious pack of dogs. Not exactly kiddie fare.

Rent it, don't say I didn't warn you.

    Kind of a Disappointment, actually

When this first came, critic were calling giving it some amazing reviews. Like, "The best movie to come out of Pixar since Toy Story", or "One of the best animated movies". I was excepting this to be great than. The movie itself, though I thought the screenplay was awesome, just wasn't as good as many other Pixar movie's, like my favourite "Cars". I liked how they offered some more sadness to it, and didn't make it kiddy. I am not saying kids won't like it, or shouldn't watch it, but its good for all audiences. But beside the screenplay, I can't say to many more positive things about it. The movie just feels rushed all the way through. It doesn't offer the same magic as other pixar movies have.

I could not understand all the hype for this movie. I thought the beginning was just depressing and the kids I was with squirmed through the whole montage of the old guy's life. Then there were all the scary parts with vicious dogs and a shotgun toting maniac. Not a kid movie at all. What were they thinking? Toy Story, Cars, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo were all better than this movie.

That was the part I liked about it, accually. Why do all cartoon movie's have to be for kids. It's about thime they came out with one that all audiance's will like.

Up is the kind of movie that when you've watched it, you'll feel like there's something it's lacking. There are some funny moments, but it was a sad story that will likely leave the viewer depressed. I liked that it showed reality, that people usually do not do what they've truly wanted, and their whole life passes by without having accomplished that one thing. So hopefully it sends people the message to chase after their dreams before they become too old.

The movie starts off with two children, Carl Fredericksen and Ellie Doctor, who promise each other to go to South America where their favourite explorer, Charles Muntz, went in search of an exotic bird. However, life progresses: the two get married, can't have any children, and then Ellie dies of old age. Carl, now 78, lives alone, and decides to chase their childhood dream to go to South America.

He hooks up his house to maybe a thousand helium balloons that it starts to float, and he navigates it to the south. With him comes Russell, a chubby child scout, who wanted to help the elderly man cross the street to get a badge. This child is found on the porch after the house lifts off.

Will Carl make it to Paradise Falls? Or will Carl find someone else to help him enjoy the rest of his life?

This not a comedy as the TV commercials suggested. It is a drama where people lose babies, grow old and die and perish in misadventure. Children will not enjoy it.

And don't forget the part where they are chased by vicious dogs that threaten to tear them to pieces and a crazed bad guy tries to kill them with a shot gun. I too was surprised at how inappropriate this movie was for something that was billed as a kids movie. The first part of the movie where it has the vignette of the old man's life is depressing and had the kids all squirming in boredom. There are certainly some cute and fun parts, but I wouldn't have considered it a G rated movie.

    Lokki

ooops, I was wrong. It's rated PG. Just as well. Of course they totally advertised it as a kids movie though.

You can't help but cry while watching this movie. While a cartoon, this is much more for adults than for children. There is no objectionable content, but most kids will be bored with the first 30 to 45 minutes of the film. I initially saw this one in when it was in theathres, and honestly, everyone above the age of eighteen had tears in their eyes as they watched this one. It so much about appreciating the past while living in the present, and being thankful for the life you have. It is amazing. This is one you just have to watch.
