Rated 4 out of 5 by from Suspensful Tom Clancy was a master at espionage. However, I do find the story heavy as the plots don't seem to be blended as well as other novels of his. It seems like two great threads, the Mexicans and the Taliban and they seldom blend. The ending ties them up separately. Clancy should have wove it a bit tighter and what was the contribution of Peter Telep? If you like Clancy and looong drawn stories then this one is a must for you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clancy-esque with a superior death toll Warning: this is not written by Tom Clancy...I repeat...this is NOT written by Tom Clancy. Not that it is a bad book, in fact I rather enjoyed it, but gone is the intensive (and sometimes exhaustive) tachno-babble and spook speak of Tom Clancy's earliest pieces and the slow, intricate coming together of many moving parts to create a slam bang conclusion. Instead "Against All Enemies" introduces us to Maxwell Moore, a CIA agent who also happens to be an ex-Navy SEAL. He stumbles upon a plot where Islamic terrorists are working in conjunction with Mexican drug lords to bring pain and destruction directly to the American people. Moore heads up a special task force whose sole job it is to stop the nefarious bad guys (terrorist and drug runners alike) from making it to the USA and spreading chaos and destruction. The body count grows and grows as Moore and his team (some of them die too) inch their way closer and closer to the heads of both the Mexican cartels and the terrorists they are trying to "put down". Lots of action and twists kept me turning the pages, but I felt at times there were some awful big "leaps" between one mission and the next; by leaps I mean the connections of how Moore and his team went from one battle zone to the next were not always clearly connected. Regardless, I would recommend this book to people who like action-packed, geo-political thrillers even if Tom Clancy had little more to do with it than putting his name on the cover.
