Rated 4 out of 5 by from Entertaining Having read some of Sophie Kinsela ¨Shopaholic Series¨ I bought this one expecting a light read. Well, it was, but I found it much more interesting. More in depth descriptive of characters; I could almost see it as a movie.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nicely done, Sophie/Madeleine Likeable characters... and a villain in this one. If you are looking for a beach book or airplane book, this will do nicely.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I want to join the cocktail club! I enjoyed this book. The characters seemed to have a genuine affection for eachother. I believe that the separate characters' plots could have been more developed, but it was a cute story. I really enjoyed the story of Maggie and her initiation in to motherhood. There was no sugar-coating in this book. However, it was sweet. An easy read that requires a weekend and bubbles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastically whitty! I've read all of her books under her pen name Sohpia Kinsella and couldn't wait to read her older books under her original name. Cocktails for Three was funny, whitty, and a British aspect of Sex and the City. I can't wait to read more books by her!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy, fast read Good book, there's not much depth to the story but its easy, funny and fast. Good for a day at a park.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another great read from Sophie Kinsella This book is a great read for many different reasons, one because the characters are very close to completing the same life experiences as the rest of the world and two the situations are not off the wall rather very real. I found it funny, witty and hard to put it down. I think we can all relate friends to the characters in this book, they are real and brutally honest. This book is a great read, especially if you plan to head to the Caribbean, it is light yet not tedious. Enjoy!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the best of her work It was alright - allowed me to pass the time but I really would not recommend it to someone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Boozing and Shmoozing Madeleine Wickham is a British author and you know right away with her choice of words. Personally, I enjoyed the vocabulary. The only cultural aspect that didn’t sit well was the character Maggie, who drank alcohol while pregnant and hung out in smoky bars. Smoking and drinking for a pregnant woman is shunned upon in North America, yet in this book the scenario is treated as something completely normal. Stylistically, I would have altered the layout. Wickham jumps around unnecessarily and juxtaposes from one scene to the next creating a string of short scenes. It would have been better to connect those short scenes into a cohesive scene. In addition, there are a couple of typos, no big deal. Other than that, I really enjoyed the book. Great job Wickham.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing I initially was a fan of Sophie Kinsella when reading the first book of the shopaholic series. However, as i continued reading the series i was disappointed more and more. This was the first book i read under the author's real name of Madeleine Wickham and was again disappointed. The characters were not witty, nor remotely funny and the story line was boring. I don't know why i keep giving this author a chance. If you don't buy this book you won't be missing anything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sensational I've never read a bad Sophie Kinsella book, so i figured it would be wrong to assume that this one wouldn't be bad either! Once again she produces an amazing story that will force that book to stay in your hand or very close by until it's finished. It's a phenomenal story about the trials of three friends dealing with careers, friendship and motherhood. I would suggest this book to any one of my friends!

Editorial Reviews

“Wickham has a deft touch with character and these three women fairly sashay – or should that be
stagger – off the page.”
