Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Story Starlighter is another wonderful book from Bryan Davis. The story is fantastic, I loved all the characters and plots! I can't wait to see what the next book is like. Mr. Davis has truly created another masterpiece here, and I would recommend this book to anyone!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Bad An interesting concept of two adjoining worlds, one where dragons are considered a myth and humans rule the world, and the other where dragons reign supreme and the thought of humans being anymore than expendable labor is nothing more than a fairy tale. Apparently the dragon world is dependent upon a prophesied Starlighter to watch and care for their unhatched Dark Prince and usher forth a new, golden era for dragon kin. Definitely not going to wait for the next one with baited breathe. This one was Ok, but it wasn't interesting enough to capture my attention enough to carry one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Adventure As a “30 something” mom, I am quite selective when it comes to choosing which Young Adult novels to read. I tend to pick authors whose works I am already acquainted with and a few which come highly recommended by other adult readers and bloggers. It is my previous experience in the adventures of the “Dragons in Our Midst” series by Byran Davis, which lead me to Starlighter. Exited to hear that this wonderful author has started a new series, Starlighter has been on my wish list for a while! And, courtesy of the wonderful ladies of the Harper Collins Canada Promotions Department, I received a copy to review! Woot Woot! Reviewer Synopsis Major Four, a world inhabited by humans and whose very way of life is remnant of our Medieval Times, has a “Legend”. This “Legend” is a fantastical story shared by many, but only truly discussed by few. According to believers, over 100 years ago a gateway was opened between this world and another, Dracon. Dragons came and men, women, and children alike, were kidnapped and returned to Dracon; enslaved to serve in a world of beasts. But, Governor Prescott has deemed the “Legend” too ridiculous to have happened! Prescott has gone so far as to make even the mention of this topic punishable by law, forcing believers to form “Underground Gateway” organizations whose members are determined to find said Gateway and rescue Major Four’s “Lost Ones”. Starlight (aka Dracon) is a planet half way across the universe and inhabited by Dragons. All-powerful and, in general, fierce beasts whose continued existence rests on the frail shoulders of the humans who server them. You see, the good health of the Dragons of Starlight depend on an atmosphere rich with Pheterone. But, over 100 years ago Starlight began to lose this precious resource. An “Explorer” was sent out into the universe to find an alternative place to live. This “Explorer” found Darksphere (aka Major Four), but found its atmosphere also unsuitable. He did, however, find a species whose nimbleness and dexterity could be of great use to the inhabitants of his home. As you can imagine, the Dragons of Starlight were too big to mine into their world’s interior to release the much needed Pheterone. It was with this purpose in mind that “The Explorer” kidnapped many humans from Darksphere and brought them back to Starlight to serve as slaves. My Thoughts Starlighter is the story of how one boy (Jason) from Major Four and one girl (Koren) from Starlight display a fierce determination and bravery in their quest to not only learn the truth, but to defeat the Dragons of Starlight. Although from two completely different worlds, Jason and Koren, ultimately, are on the same adventure. They seek the same truths, the same justices, and the same freedoms. Complete with a wonderful cast of supporting characters and page flipping plot lines, Starlighter is Young Adult Science Fiction at its Finest! Bryan Davis is sure to capture readers of all ages with this enchanting tale of a young boy’s journey to save the “Lost Ones” and a young girl’s devotion to truth and freedom! Editorial Reviews

Davis, Bryan (Author)Apr 2010. 400 p. Zondervan, paperback, $9.99. (9780310718369).Jason is an excellent swordsman who grew up pretending to slay dragons with his older brother. Therehave long been rumors of dragons stealing people to another realm and enslaving them, but Jason did notbelieve the myths. Now, both his brothers are missing, and it turns out that dragons really exist. Jasonjourneys to find the portal to this mysterious realm in order to rescue his brothers and free the slaves.Meanwhile, a slave girl named Koren has long thought that the myths about a planet where humans arefree was a myth. She dreams of freedom but because she is a Starlighter, a powerful visionary, the dragonswill never set her free. Told in alternating chapters, KorenÆs and JasonÆs stories merge as both use theirgifts to battle the dragons and liberate the captives. Both are strong characters who readers will root forfrom the very beginning. The first in a planned four-book series, there is just enough of a resolution tosatisfy readers, yet leave them eager for book two.Ù Shauna Yusko— Booklist
