Got Fight?: The 50 Zen Principles of Hand-to-Face Combat

by Forrest Griffin

HARPERCOLLINS PUBLISHERS | May 10, 2010 | Trade Paperback

Got Fight?: The 50 Zen Principles of Hand-to-Face Combat is rated 5 out of 5 by 2.

Wondering why you should purchase this book when there are other titles written by much higher-caliber fighters? Well, Forrest Griffin is not as good-looking as those guys. He''s not as smart as them or as athletically endowed. And let''s face it, neither are you.

If you get off on having your face rearranged, though, Got Fight? is for you. This is a manifesto more strategic than Sun Tzu''s The Art of War, more philosophical than Bruce Lee''s Tao of Jeet Kune Do. In these pages you will learn about true mental toughness-whether it''s for scraping it out in the Octagon or picking up chicks. You will learn about the mental defects that made Forrest Griffin into the abomination he is today and how you can use your shortcomings to become equally horrible.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Into the disturbed mind of a UFC fighter Fact 1: the author's sanity will be questioned many many times. Fact 2: the author will proceed to insult his readers repeatedly. Fact 3: this is not a serious martial arts book, but fun to read. Topics include manliness, personal hygiene, the toughest guy on the planet, grappling, overtraining, inebriation, unconsiderate drivers, cutting weight, street fighting, vizualisation, confidence, pickup lines, getting into clubs, finding the right woman, blood, diet, fight lingo, managers, supersecret techniques, etc... The more serious part of the book are some fighting basics: stance, creating angles, fighting southpaws, timing, distance, combinations, the muay thai clinch, dirty boxing, and more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This book had me laughing out loud This book is a must for fight fans, and an excellent read for anyone that is not. Forrest and Erich did an amazing job with this best seller. It literally had me laughing out loud for hours. I would stay up half the night laughing in bed and keeping my wife awake because the book was so funny and interesting that I could not put it down. Check this book out. You will not be disappointed.
