Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great book if you're breathing! This book challenged me as a wife, parent and christian! i was expecting to learn more about the duggar family and young girls, which i did but wow... when i finished this book it opened great conversations with my teenage boys, husband and others. we spoke about apologizing, forgiving, relationships with parents/ siblings/ friends, hospitality, politics, wasting time with t.v. and video games, how to live more purposefully, being the right kind of person for that possible future spouse, what qualities are you wanting in a possible future spouse, each working on one character quality in ourselves to better relationships in our family and with others. my husband is now reading it because of the conversations this book stimulated in our family. buy this for yourself, your teenager, young adult, friend and share it when your'e done! the only negative thing i have to say is i wish i read this when my kids were preschoolers to help in those years. if you are a librarian.....get this book in

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Growing Up Duggar:It's All About Relationships This book was written by the four eldest Duggar daughters, who range in age from twenty to twenty-four years. In it they each discuss problems they encountered while growing up and the loving guidance they received from their parents. The book is very down-to-earth and discusses problems that all children, especially teens, can relate too. Subjects like jealousy, low self-esteem, learning to like the way you look, and dealing with problem people who go out of their way to irritate you, are all covered in this book. I bought the book to give to my eldest granddaughter who will be turning fifteen soon. Before purchasing the book, I borrowed a copy from my public library, read it and was highly impressed. This is an excellent book and I highly recommend it!

Growing Up Duggar 1 YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOURSELF Getting to know and love the girl in the mirror I will praise Thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. —Psalms 139:14 WHEN OUR PARENTS WERE planning to build our current house in northwest Arkansas, they asked us kids how many bedrooms we thought the house should have. It was an easy question for us to answer: we wanted to be together. So, upstairs in our house today, there’s one big room for all the girls, one big room for all the boys, and our parents’ bedroom with an adjoining nursery. Jana and I (Jill) sleep in double beds with our youngest sisters, Jordyn and Josie, and the other girls sleep in twin- or youth-sized beds. It’s always an exciting time when the littlest sister gets to move from the nursery to the “big girls’ room” with us, although they’re always free to toddle back to Mom and Dad’s room if they need to. We love the late-night conversations and falling asleep each night surrounded by our sisters. One night a few years ago as I was putting my retainer in my mouth at bedtime, my sister Johannah, then probably five or six, asked what it was. I told her it was something I slept with to help keep my teeth aligned now that I didn’t have to wear braces anymore. “Can I wear it?” Johannah asked. We Duggars do love to share a lot of things but, thankfully, dental appliances aren’t among them. I smiled and told her no, it was made jus
