by Bart D Ehrman

HARPERCOLLINS PUBLISHERS | January 25, 2010 | Trade Paperback

Jesus Interrupted: Revealing the Hidden Contradictions in the Bible (And Why We Don't Know About Them) is rated 4 out of 5 by 1.

The Human Story Behind the Divine Book

In thisNew York Timesbestseller, leading Bible expert Bart Ehrman skillfully demonstrates that the New Testament is riddled with contradictory views about who Jesus was and the significance of his life. Ehrman reveals that many of the books were written in the names of the apostles by Christians living decades later, and that central Christian doctrines were the inventions of still later theologians. Although this has been the standard and widespread view of scholars for two centuries, most people have never learned of it.

Jesus, Interruptedis a clear and compelling account of the central challenges we have when attempting to reconstruct the life and meaning of Jesus.

Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent! This is a must read, whether you are religious or not. The author presents facts, not gratuitous accusations, and the line of thought is easy to follow, the logic impeccable. A bit apologetic at the end, but since Bart Ehrman is living and working in the American South, I guess he has to walk on eggs sometimes... He must certainly not walk on water over there!
