Oliver Barrett IV, a wealthy jock from a stuffy WASP family on his way to a Harvard degree and a career in law . . . Jenny Cavilleri, a sharp-tongued, working-class beauty studying music at Radcliffe . . .

Opposites in nearly every way, Oliver and Jenny are kindred spirits from vastly different worlds. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cried Like a little Girl...In a Good Way I am not a woman who cries easily. However Last summer my sister and I where staying with a friend, Alice, in England and she kept raving about this book Love Story. The three of us have similar taste so I was interested until she started saying what a tearjerker it was. Well we where only in town one more night and we spent the night reading it to each other. By the end we where crying then laughing at each other so much we thought we would wake up the house. A beautifully written book, with a touching ending. A must read for anyone, man or woman...it's quite a short read but when you are done you'll want to read it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love Story When I first picked up this book I thought of the movie that was made in the seventies. At first I wasn't going to read it, but once I started I could not put it down! The story is written by a male author from a male's point of view. Oliver and Jenny are spunky characters that you will not soon forget. Oliver is the rich boy from a family with high expectations both educational and social, and Jenny is the ethnic girl from the other side of the tracks. Jenny teaches Oliver that love doesn't neccesarily have to come with conditions. From the moment they meet till the stunning final scene you will hold on to everything that they do. The most memorable line from the book, and the key thing that Jenny teaches Oliver is 'Love means not ever having to say you're sorry,' and you won't be sorry that you read this! It is an intriguing book that you won't want to put down.
