Rated 5 out of 5 by from A witch, an elf, a pixie and a vampire stuck in a car together Pale Demon is the 9th book in Hollows series. Rachel has 3 days to get to the witches’ conference to clear her name and go to her brothers wedding. Because she's shunned she cannot fly anywhere. She needs to get this shunning removed or she can be trapped in the ever-after forever. Trent is on a quest and needs Rachel to drive him across country. The quest is a huge secret (which becomes a major plot twist to the series). So a witch, a elf, a pixie and a vampire set off across the country, shouldn't be too bad? Wrong! A demon is let out who can walk in the sunlight and devours souls. Trying to get to the witches’ conference, get Trent to his quest and fight a sun walking demon Rachel has her hands full. This book was fantastic. I absolute couldn't put it down to the point I was late for work. This book has to be one of my favorites in the series. I love Trent and I’m loving Trent a lot more. I also enjoyed a lot of Al and his interactions with Rachel were amazing. This book was filled with major plot changes and Rachel's character will never be the same. There were scenes that made me cry, especially the one with Ivy. I love the way the series is going and find that Harrison has found ways to keep this series extremely interesting and alive. It seems the last few books were a build up to the events in this one. Cannot recommend this book or this series enough.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The gang is back! I couldn’t wait to read the latest instalment to this series and I have to admit I was a bit disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy this book, but at times I felt like it dragged on. It seems to me that Rachel is constantly struggling with moral dilemmas. She’s always trying to figure out what is good and what is bad, what is white and what is black and sometimes it gets on my nerves because it just seems to go on and on. As much as I found myself discouraged at times with Rachel’s personal dilemmas, for the most part, I found this book highly entertaining and this series remains one of my favourite. Rachel is a very complex character who bases her actions on her own moral code. Even though I sometimes get annoyed with that aspect of her, I think it’s also what makes her such an interesting character. Rachel is also very powerful, witty, and funny. She always looking out for others even if it they don’t seem to deserve it, which make her a true heroine. On top of all that Rachel can kick some evil butt! As a result of the aftermath of having had to use black magic Rachel must attend to witch’s convention in order to try to get her shunning removed or be permanently banished to the EverAfter. Rachel, Ivy, Jenks and Trent all pile up in a car to head to the east coast for the convention. You can imagine how things get interesting when these four characters get stuck in a car for a three day drive! In this latest edition, a daywalking demon is released which makes their trip even more interesting. Now not only does Rachel have to get her butt halfway across the country but she also has to fight Ku’sox who’s been banished from the EverAfter. Trenton and Rachel maintain a very interesting relationship, to say the least. I love watching these two together as they struggle for the upper hand. Even though at times I thought this story dragged on and I got a bit annoyed with Rachel’s dilemma with her moral code, I really enjoyed this book. Harrison manages to create a very interesting world with complex characters that will have you completely captivated by their personalities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW-Some Spoilers Wow, all I can say is Wow. How Harrison manages to keep hitting it out of the park, book after book , astounds me. I have been hooked on this series from the first book, and I am now a bigger fan than ever. When Rachel is forced to take a three day road trip, across the country from Cincinnati to San Francisco, to make the yearly Witch’s Conventions. She must face the Coven to have her shunning removed, and if she does not make it and present her case, she will be permanently shunned to the Ever-After. And, in typical Rachel fashion she is in for more than she bargained for, including her traveling companions. She will learn things not only about herself, but her partners and her enemies. In typical Rachel fashion it will muddy the waters even more, and leave her with big choices to make. Rachel is thrown together and is is forced to work with old and new enemies, to complete this odyssey and overcome the most dangerous Demon she has come against. Rachel will have to prove to the Coven that her being able to perform Black Magic is the wave of the future, and not just necessary but inevitable to overcome what is in the future as the walls between the Ever-after and Reality become thinner and thinner, and good witches can perform black magic and not be evil or corrupted by it. In typical Rachel fashion she kick butt as she does it. But, that is all that I am going to give away as far as spoilers, and I have very mixed feelings on this one. I loved it, but I was so shocked by the ending, and scared that this may be the beginning of the end of my most beloved series. I can not figure out what Harrison may have in store (which is normal for her books) but it almost had the tone that she may be preparing to end the series. I hope by all hope that there are many more phenomenal books to come in this series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wild Ride So... a witch, an elf and a vampire are in a car....sounds like the start of a joke, but it's not. No, it's a ROAD TRIP! And what a fun ride it is. Harrison has delivered another winner in this great series. As I said, this time Rachel and the gang are on a cross-country road trip. And what a ride it was! I laughed, I laughed again. I was also surprised by several turn of events, but don't worry, no spoilers here, just my highest recommendation that if you like Urban Fantasy and haven't tried this series out, then do it! You won't be sorry. (I also highly recommend that you start at the beginning with the first book, Dead Witch Walking). 2011-012
