Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Couldn't put it down Lesley Pearse has a way of depicting women, no matter status or stature, as strong and willful. I loved the character of Mary Broad and wish there was more information on her. Her struggles of trying to survive in a land unknown are heartbreaking and awe inspiring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved it This book is about Mary Broad, a 19 year old woman found guilty of highway robbery and sentenced to hang in the late 1700's. She receives a reprieve and is instead sent to Botany Bay in New South Wales Australia, a new penal colony for convicts. The story is about her hardships and her life a long the way. A definite tear jerker and a great book from begining to end. I would recommend this to anyone. It is worth every cent. I am planning on reading it a second time!
