Simple Recipes for Joy: More Than 200 Delicious Vegan Recipes is rated 5 out of 5 by 2.
More than 200 delicious vegan recipes from the world-renowned founder of the Jivamukti yoga method and the New York City Jivamuktea Café

Since 1984, Jivamukti yoga has been synonymous with a new way of living: peacefully, healthfully, and consciously. Jivamukti’s dedicated instructors and message of kindness have inspired a global revolution. In 2006, Sharon Gannon and David Life opened the Jivamuktea Café to complement their yoga school as a living expression of how compassionate spiritual activism can be put to practical use. It, too, was an immediate success. The peaceful ambiance, the camaraderie, and, most of all, the delicious, hearty fare struck a chord with patrons who were thrilled to eliminate meat and dairy from their diet without sacrificing taste.

Thousands of customers—including Russell Simmons, award-winning film director Darren Aronofsky, and Eco Spokesmama Chloé Jo Davis—have become devoted fans of Gannon’s cruelty-free burritos, chocolate mousse, and flower salads. Now, for the first time, Gannon presents the secrets behind the café's acclaimed menu—and also showcases her own home cooking, with recipes she’s been making for family and friends for decades.

Stalwart vegans—as well as the millions of vegetarians and omnivores who eat vegan part-time for its health and environmental benefits—will embrace Gannon’s accessible, delicious, and spiritually powerful recipes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! A feast for your eyes - and then your taste buds. My friend raved about this book so much that I went on his recommendation and just bought it. I'm so glad that I did. The book, just to look through as a coffee table book, is absolutely beautiful. You don't have to be an Alice in Wonderland fan to love the Madhatter tea party images either. Even my mum, who is a senior and definitely not a vegetarian, was totally drawn in by how beautiful it is; and is even willing to try some of the recipes - if I make them - because they look so lovely. (Ok, I did point out that she's not Italian but does eat Italian food, which is true). Recipes are not complicated and are really delicious. The Curry-Tahini-Noodle soup was easy to make and fantastic! Bring on the strawberry cupcakes - they look amazing. I was out of strawberries but was inspired to go buy some to make these. Can't wait to work my way through the whole book - my weekend project for the next little while. I highly recommend. This book just made my Christmas shopping list much easier to finish.

The recipes and ingredients are accessible and the results are consistently successful. I cannot wait to eat my way through the whole book. The writing is beautiful and inspiring, allowing us to remember that we are the empowering force in both our own life and the world around us. When our ingredients are based on joy and kindness, the recipe of our lives will be too. Everyone is getting one for Christmas, Hannukah, Bodhi Day...
