She''s accidentally destroyed a dozen cars. She''s a target for every psycho and miscreant this side of the Jersey Turnpike. Her mother''s convinced she''ll end up dead . . . or worse, without a man. She''s Stephanie Plum, and she kicks butt for a living (well, she thinks it sounds good to put it that way. . . .).

It begins as an innocent trip to the deli-mart, on a quest for nachos. But Stephanie Plum and her partner, Lula, are clearly in the wrong place at the wrong time. A robbery leads to an explosion, which leads to the destruction of yet another car. It would be just another day in the life of Stephanie Plum, except that she becomes the target of a gang---and of an even scarier, more dangerous force that comes to Trenton. With super bounty hunter Ranger acting more mysteriously than ever (and the tension with vice cop Joe Morelli getting hotter), she finds herself with a decision to make: how to protect herself and where to hide while on the hunt for a killer known as the Junkman. There''s only one safe place, and it has Ranger''s name all over it---if she can find it. And if the Junkman doesn''t find her first. With Lula riding shotgun and Grandma Mazur on the loose, Stephanie Plum is racing against the clock in her most suspenseful novel yet. Ten Big Ones is page-turning entertainment, and Janet Evanovich is the best there is.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from More comic relief than suspense, a fun read This was my first Janet Evanovich novel and I really enjoyed it. It lacked a bit in plot, but the quirky characters made up for it. It was an enjoyable read for sure. I found Stephaine and Lula were so clueless at times, and then add Grandma and Sally and it was quite unbelievable, but lots of laughs if you take it for what it is. The ending was perhaps a bit abrupt. If you like the Stephanie Plum series, you might want to check out Sue Grafton's series with Kinsey (e.g. A is for Alibi). Similar style, although Kinsey is a bit more serious and the plot is more detailed keeping the reader more on edge to see what is going to happen next, much more suspense. Whereas I kept reading about Stephanie to see what other trouble she might get into next. Stephanie, as Ranger put it, is more for comic relief than suspense, but a fun read just the same. I will definitely read another book from the series.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Couldn't Stop Laughing This is the first time that I've read anything bye Janet Evanovich. I was very impressed. Stephanie Plum is hilirous. If I were a bounty hunter, I'd probably get into the same amount of trouble. Lula is also very funny. An ex-hooker partnered up with a so so bounty hunter. What could be more funny? And Ranger and very sexy and mysterious bounty hunter. One of the best. Stephanie Plum just gets into one problem after another. I definetely recoomend this book. If you like laughing and following Stephanie around and getting into touble this is the book for you. Enjoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ***** Loved it. Quirky, fast paced, steamy, but not over the edge. As always. Very excited to read the next one, Eleven on Top.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from We need a direction change I have read all the Stephanie Plum books as they have come out in paperback and I have enjoyed them all for their offbeat and quirky style of writing. When I finally read the latest released book (10 Big Ones); I was a bit dissapointed with the slightly stale story line. I found that it was very predictable and too much character driven. Perhaps it is time for the author to take poor Stephanie in a bit of a different direction and open up her character a bit and allow a few new characters to be developed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love Ranger!!! Possibly my favourite Plum novel today -- read the rest of the series first. A little romantic tension with some laugh out loud moments -- I read it so fast, I don't think I can wait a year till the next one. It does end ubruptly - but that only adds to my anticipation for Eleven.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent-until you get to the end Written in the excellent Evanovich style, an amazing addition to the series. Except the ending, it just ends with no closure and leaves you wondering-but not in a good way.

About the Book

The latest Stephanie Plum adventure from the #1 New York Times bestselling author.

Read from the Book

CHAPTER 1 The way I see it, life is a jelly doughnut. You don''t really know what it''s about until you bite into it. And then, just when you decide it''s good, you drop a big glob of jelly on your best T-shirt. My name is Stephanie Plum, and I drop a lot of jelly globs, figuratively and literally. Like the time I accidentally burned down a funeral home. That was the mother of all jelly globs. I got my picture in the paper for that one. I''d walk down the street and people would recognize me. "You''re famous now," my mother said when the paper came out. " You have to set an example. You have to exercise, eat good food and be nice to old people." Okay, so my mother was probably right, but I''m from Jersey and truth is, I have a hard time getting a grip on the good example thing. A good example in Jersey isn''t exactly the national ideal. Not to mention, I inherited a lot of unmanageable brown hair and rude hand gestures from my father''s Italian side of the family. What am I supposed to do with that? My mother''s side is Hungarian and from this I get blue eyes and the ability to eat birthday cake and still button the top snap on my jeans. I''m told the good Hungarian metabolism only lasts until I''m forty, so I''m counting down. The Hungarian genes also carry a certain amount of luck and gypsy intuition, both of which I need in my present job. I''m a Bond Enforcement Agent, working for my cousin Vincent Plum, and I run down bad guys. I''m not the best BEA in the world and I''m

About the Author

Janet Evanovich is the author of the Stephanie Plum books, including One for the Money and Sizzling Sixteen, and the Diesel & Tucker series, including Wicked Appetite. Janet studied painting at Douglass College, but that art form never quite fit, and she soon moved on to writing stories. She didn''t have instant success: she collected a big box of rejection letters. As she puts it, "When the box was full I burned the whole damn thing, crammed myself into pantyhose and went to work for a temp agency." But after a few months of secretarial work, she managed to sell her first novel for $2,000. She immediately quit her job and started working full-time as a writer. After 12 romance novels, she switched to mystery, and created Stephanie Plum. The rest is history. Janet''s favorite exercise is shopping, and her drug of choice is Cheeze Doodles. She and her husband live in New Hampshire, in house with a view of the Connecticut River Valley.

From Our Editors

New Jersey is famous for more than Sinatra, Springsteen and the Sopranos. Hugely popular author Janet Evanovich brings Burg bounty hunter Stephanie Plum back to shake up Trenton. With her big hair and red lipstick firmly in place, Stephanie creates more of her trademark chaos – bail jumpers continue to slip though her fingers, someone (in this case, a notorious gang) wants her dead, more of her cars are lost to Molotov cocktails and she still lusts after the two men in her life. There is never a dull moment for the mishap-prone Stephanie Plum and there certainly won’t be one for you as you speed through New Jersey’s suburbs with her.
