Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Straight forward tale with no twists. There were no surprises, no severely tense moments and no action packed scenes in Grisham's "The Confession". The idea that an innocent man may be wrongfully executed is not new, and I am not trying to "poopoo" the severity of a legal execution, but I never felt/cared for the poor boy on death row as it seemed he knew there was no way out before we, the readers, knew. I was more interested in the role played by the Pastor who was trying to stop the execution by producing the identity of the real killer while that same real killer toyed with the Pastor's emotions and kindness. I kind of expected to be a bit of a showdown between the two, but it never materialized.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A good Grisham read Though there are some politics at play (too much realism?) and it isn't my favorite Grisham novel, it is still a good read...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Shocking Grisham can do better. I was a bit disappointed in this one. Slow build up then once Dante is executed, about half way through the story goes down hill and kind of fizzles out. In my mind hardly anyone in the justice system and politics gets any payback. A real bad ending dragged on and on only to execute another prisoner in the last paragraph. Sorry John, not your best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another fantastic book by John Grisham! A frighting tale about capital punishment! Even though the characters may not be real people, my heart went out to them. I couldn't put it down, even when it was hard to read though my tears.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grisham has outdone himself! The master has outdone himself this time. A book so emotionally charged that you will not want to stop reading, yet you will be compelled to stop to wipe away a tear and take a breath before picking it up to continue reading until the next breathless stop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Classic ! Grisham has done it again. After a break for a young adult book he has come back with another formula thriller. Some people may not like formulas... but if it works, why change ! Loved it !
