Rated 5 out of 5 by from The things you think you could never make... ...become not only possible but easy and fun with this cookbook. An incredible glossary (just in case you are not familiar with Laotian technique), beautiful photography, an unparalled geography, and no blanding down on the spices. Buy this book, if only for the Thai Pork & Pumpkin (butternut squash) Curry. Enjoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Essential Asian Cookbook Whether Chinese, Japenese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indian, Thai or many others, this book has it all. A plethora of choices to select from according to the skill level, recipe ingredients and category of Asian food. I have tried numerous recipes from this cookbook (received as part of a wedding gift) and I can honestly say that I loved them all. My husband is delighted each time I try a recipe from this book. Being a beginner cook, my guests are surprised that I have become quite the chef. Each recipe comes with a mouthwatering photo, so you know what kind of culinary delight is within your reach. Definitely recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Essential Asian Cookbook This book is absolutely excellent in every way. It is very easily navigated, with separation of recipes by country. Many Asian countries are represented, with a whole range of items from each country. The ingredients are items readily available, even from my small town grocery store. If the ingredients are foreign, there is a description of them in the beginning of the book and sometimes they include more familiar substitutions. The illustrations are positively mouthwatering and inspirational. Each recipe is rated for ease of preparation and the processes are easy to follow, without being too elementary. My one complaint is that some of amounts of the ingredients, like meat or fish, is given in weight in grams or ounces, which makes me just guess at the amount in pounds. Definately 2 thumbs up!
