The twenty-fifth anniversary of this beloved bestseller is celebrated in Prefaces by Oprah Winfrey and Maya Angelou and contains a new Foreword by the author, website links, and a new Study Guide to help readers find even deeper meaning and fulfillment.

The Seat of the Soul encourages you become the authority in your own life. It will change the way you see the world, interact with other people, and understand your own actions and motivations. Beginning with evolution, Gary Zukav takes you on a penetrating exploration of the new phase humanity has entered: we are evolving from a species that understands power as the ability to manipulate and control—external power—into a species that understands power as the alignment of the personality with the soul--authentic power. Our evolution requires each of us to make the values of the soul our own: harmony, cooperation, sharing, and reverence for Life. Using his scientist’s eye and philosopher’s heart, Zukav shows us how to participate fully in this evolution, enlivening our everyday activities and all of our relationships with meaning and purpose.

The Seat of the Soul has sold millions of copies around the globe, and as it changes lives, more and more people begin to live by the values of the spirit. Indeed, a new world is emerging, and this book brings its message to you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Authentic Empowerment at its best What can I say about this book? I was completely riveted to the words contained on the pages of this book. It is clear from the reading of this work that we are in a time of deep change. How easily we can traverse this road to arrive at our final and ultimate destination depends upon our ability and willingness to honestly see where we are headed. Gary talks about personality and soul, stressing that when the two become properly aligned we experience authentic empowerment. This is a power that loves life in all forms; a power that does not judge; a power that sees meaningfulness and purpose in all that life on the Earth school has to offer. This book will show you how to overcome the eternal power that generates fear. It will enable you to begin to understand your addictions so that you may attempt to overcome them. It will allow you to become more reverent so that you learn to make conscious life choices for the benefit of all. The Seat Of The Soul is a thought-provoking book that needs to be shared with all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from if you really want to know why you are not happy! I've read quiet a few self help-growth books over the last twenty or so years, including a few of Gary's previous works. By far this book, the seat of the soul, combines all the necessary information anyone would ever require if they are truly serious about wanting to find out why they continue to feel like there's something missing ...they are not living the best life they can. The book's primary focus is for the reader to become concious to what is happening in their body (physical sensations), mind (thoughts), emotions and also ties in very nicely our energy centres to answer the questions on why we feel drained and how we can stop it. It was a fantastic eye opener on why I feel the way I do in some situations and why it's so easy to blame others. I have finally discovered my defense mecanism(s). If you have journeyed to a point where you are ready to honestly look internally and intuitively know there’s got to be more- this book is for you...it will change your life on every level. You can no longer pretend you don't know how to be truly happy!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Psychological Quest! This book is definitely an eye-opener into the human psyche. The writing style is both interesting and compelling and is beyond the normal day-to-day book comprehension. Being a Psych major...I would recommend this book as part of University material. A must, must read for all soul-searches ...this is the avenue to go!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every bit a genius! At first I was reluctant to read through this book, thinking that it was just another hum-drum self-help book. Let me tell you - this is probably the most astounding breakthrough book on the body-mind-spirit dimension and our potential to redefine ourselves in a head-smart world. When reading this book, you will notice the literary quality of such dynamic intelligence that elevates awareness on the human psyche, and our potential to reach far beyond our five senses. Gary Zukav is a soul genius! An absolute favourite!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A bunch of baloney... Perhaps this is one of those love it or hate it books but I am firmly in the hated it camp. I tried, for the sake of the person who recommended it to me, to like this book but the writing was awful and the ideas just regurgitated pap with a dollop of new age topping for bad measure. If you want to read something about souls I'd recommend Thomas Moore's Care of the Soul way ahead of this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Full of wisdom.... meaningful The BEST book EVER on life and human beings. I can characterise this book as spiritual but yet not religious, letting the reader choose to name the "Universe" or God or whoever or whatever you believe in guide you through your evolution, helping you to understand the meaning of life and soul evolution to be the best you can be and heal those parts of your life that you were meant to go through on this "earth school". Highly recommend +++... don't miss Gary Zukav on Oprah!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Music to my Ears and Soul I have both the audio and written version of Soul stories..For a good quiet read, the book is recommended, but for a soul moving experience, you must hear Mr Zukav speak. His voice is calming, soothing and so simple and relaxed, you cant help but follow in his lead. Soul stories will touch you in a place, you thought you never had,and return you to a peace, you thought you had lost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from changed my life I read and re-read this book whenever I lose touch of my inner peace. Gary explains that which I never could get explained to me. What is our soul? How do we live in harmony with it? He uses wonderful analogies and gives real life exercises to help us reach our inner peace. A must to own and read!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helps make sense of Life A truely awe inspiring book, as said by another reviewer it is done without pushing religion on you. In the last two years I have lost both my parents and my marriage, this book helped me to understand and cope with why things happen to people in this life. Why some must suffer inorder to find peace, especially that age old question why must children die. Agreed hard to read at times but well worth the effort and I too find you must read it more than once inorder to get the full benefit of it. It has set me on a trail to find out more about life on this earth, and on the next plane. It has opened my eyes and self to awhole new way of viewing are reason for being here.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Confusing I was very anxious to read this book as I had seen Gary on Oprah and was enticed by what he said. Unfortunately, I tried four times to read this book but didn't have a clue what he was talking about. This is a very hard read. Gary Zukov should have written this book in a more simplified way, not everyone understands the concepts and terminologies. I was extremely disappointed that I could not understand this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soulfully recommended! Give your soul a treat and read this book, it is quite thought provoking. It will leave you wanting to further explore your own spiritual potential, a potential that cannot be denied after reading this book. It has changed the way I look at people, in a good way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you're a searcher This is a book you must read. To know our true selves is to better appreciate the meaning and purpose in life. Zukov's book is a good one with which to help yourself along that path. Without forcing religiosity upon the reader, he gently directs us how to look within, thereby assisting our own personal journeys towards self-love and enlightenment. You'll want to pass it on to friends you love, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Fine Line. Zukav has stepped over that "fine line" which needed to be crossed decades ago. He has done it with a scencing logic that spirits of many plains of consciousness can learn from. In this time of shifting energies, Zukav bridges the gap between the energy we are, the so called etherial world and the state we physically live in. He has done this remarkably well. This is a book not to be critiqued but to help you look closely at your true BEING. It is an immense universe with gifts of growth & knowledge. It is up to the reader wether or not to step over "The Fine Line".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Direction to a better life I think that Gary Zukav has this incredible outlook of life that is at the same time inspiring and compelling. He explains in details how he sees life. Although hard to understand at times, but once you have read the book twice (because you will) life will make sense once again.

Read from the Book

Chapter OneDuring the years that I was writing The Dancing Wu Li Masters and after, I was drawn again and again to the writings of William James, Carl Jung, Benjamin Lee Whorf, Niels Bohr and Albert Einstein. I returned to them repeatedly. I found in them something special, although it was not until later that I was able to understand that specialness: these fellow humans reached for something greater than they were able to express directly through their work. They saw more than they could express in the language of psychology or linguistics or physics, and they sought to share what they saw. It--is what they sought to share through the medium of their work that drew me to them. They were mystics. That is my word. They would not use such language, but they knew it. They feared that their careers might become contaminated by association with those who did not work within the scientific model, but in the depths of their own thoughts they each saw much too much to be limited by the five senses, and they were not. Their works contribute not only to the evolution of psychology, linguistics and physics, but also to the evolution of those who read them. They have the capability to change those who touch them in ways that also cannot be expressed directly in the terms of psychology, or linguistics, or physics. As I came to understand, in retrospect, the magnetic quality that these works held for me, I came to understand that what motivated these men was not Earthly prizes or the respec
