Protecting the innocent, vanquishing evil, and generally righting wrongs are not exactly on the agenda of every twenty-something on the fast track to finding out what life’s all about. But for the Halliwell sisters, this has become their destiny. Now entering its sixth season, Charmed explores the relationship between three siblings, who after discovering that they possess magical powers, are reluctantly thrown into a world of supernatural evils.
Piper (Combs), Phoebe (Milano) and Paige (McGowan) suffered a devastating blow last season when Piper’s husband Leo (Krause) was made an Elder and could no longer live with his family on earth. A mysterious young man from the future, Chris (Fuller), has now taken Leo’s place as the sisters’ Whitelighter and guardian angel. Chris’ motives, however, remain unclear, as do his loyalties – whether they’re good or evil. Despite Leo’s suspicions about Chris, he’ll continue to be a part of the Halliwells’ lives. As for the oldest sister Piper, she’ll experience life as a single mother and now that she’s no longer married to an angel, she’ll get a chance for the one thing she’s so desperately wanted since becoming a witch – a semblance of a normal life. With Leo remaining an Elder, his and Piper’s relationship will take several dramatic turns as they both adjust to life without the other.
Middle sister Phoebe, on the other hand, now emotionally free of Cole (Julian McMahon), is looking forward to exploring her burgeoning career as a popular advice columnist at a local newspaper and having more of a love life. While her long distance relationship with her Hong Kong based boss Jason Dean (Eric Dane) continues on a sporadic basis, Phoebe tries to keep her powers secret from him, still deciding all the while if he could be her Mr. Right. When Phoebe’s powers advance, she begins to develop empathic abilities, which make it difficult to distinguish her own feelings from those around her. So, Phoebe will need some time to learn to control her newfound enhanced power. Finally, after spending her first two years learning about being a witch and then taking on a “super witch” kick last year, youngest sister Paige is now trying to find a separate identity from her family and her witchly duties. Paige will take on a series of menial temporary jobs to see what life is like apart from her family, only to discover that magic will follow her wherever she goes. Meanwhile, Piper and Leo realize that their son Wyatt is one of the most mysterious, magical creatures to ever exist and as he grows so does his magic. And when it comes to good old fashioned police help, Lieutenant Darryl Morris (Dorian Gregory) is always there when the sisters need some aide or advice. As the three most powerful good witches magic has to offer, the Halliwell sisters continue to wage war against evil as they seek to strengthen their sisterly bond and get closer to fulfilling their destiny.
