Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant This is an absolutely brilliant movie. I was not excepting much at all going in, its funny how that works out eh? I bought a pack of movies, and this one was just a throw in to get the 3/20 deal, and it ended up being my favourite of the bunch. I am not a big Clive Owen fan, i feel like he does the same thing every movie. This is the first movie i have seen him in, were he takes a character, and makes it his own. he actually shows some very good acting chops in this movie. It's kind of weird how British/Irish/Scottish actors have there best performances in movies where they are not trying to be american. Julianne Moore was pretty good in this movie, but Micheal Caine was the scene stealer in this movie. I have never seen him in this kind of a role before. I was engrossed the entire movie, but the scene's with Caine in them were special. Chiwetel Ejiofor does not get much credit as an actor, but he does a great job in this film, he has great range as an actor. i heard about director Alfonso Cuarón before this movie, but i had never personally watched one of his movies before. He direction in this movie is amazing. I have a hard time reviewing directing at times, but you know the difference he makes in this movie. I don't want to give anything away, but one truley amazing scene right at the end, where he does the scene in one shot, and this scene goes on for 15-20 minutes. He is a brilliant director, and he knows how to get the audiance to feel emtionally attached to the story being told. A absolute pleasure to watch this movie, i wouldn't want to miss it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hope for Humankind? The world's youngest citizen has just died at 18, and humankind, no longer able to reproduce, is facing the likelihood of its own extinction. Set in and around a dystopian London fractious with violence and warring nationalistic sects, Children of Men follows the unexpected discovery of a lone pregnant woman and the desperate journey to deliver her to safety and restore faith for a future beyond those presently on Earth. Clive Owen is superb as Theo. Theo is never far from danger yet he struggles on with convincing dignity. Occasionally baffled but far from stupid - Theo is essentially a reckless, underplayed action hero that doesn't jump at every opportunity to arm himself with a gun. Great performances where also provided by Michael Caine's charming pot dealing hippie and a feisty Julianne Moore. Rent It

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A world without children is a world without hope The most amazing aspects of this film are the extended sequences of action, the fatalistic outlook with a hint of hope, and the lingering questions that follow after watching it. What a fantastic film!
