Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Powerhouse of a Film When you go to watch this movie, make sure you have a good hour and a half devoted to it. This movie starts, and immediately your hooked. The first scene is not what I expected and set the tone for the rest of the film. It is a crime that I have written so much already and have not mentioned Denzal Washington, as he is lights out good, but I need to say something before I rave about him. The movie is called Flight, so you assume it is about the airline industry. That assumption is wrong. The airline industry is a side story, what this movie is truly about it alcoholism, and that is where the amazing performance by Denzal Washington comes in. Itis one of the best single performances I have seen in a very long time. Denzal is a great actor, and he has given some great performances, but I have never seen him go this far into a role before. This movie revolves around this character, and this incredible performance hides many flaws of the actual film. They go deeper and darker into this characters alcoholism than I ever could of guessed. I knew the film was rated R, but I am extremely impressed that a Hollywood film, which this many big names attached, attacked this issue as fully and darkly as they did. Denzal is the key, but he is supported by some big name supporting actors. Bruce Greenwood was a nice surprise, he has not done a big film in a long time and he was quite good here. John Goodman is on a run of good films, and Flight is no different. Don Cheadle does the best he can in his role, but the role itself is not that demanding. Kelly Reilly is the newcomer of the bunch as the main female character. She has a southern charm, but I am not yet sold on her acting yet. Overall this film is carried by an all time great performance by Denzal Washington.
