Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Extremely Well Made film with Amazing Performances I had written a review for this movie back the year it was released. I recently re watched it, and was amazed by how much i liked it. So i went back to read my review of it, and i was disgusted with what I had wrote. i had written that it was a good film, but all the, pardon my french, "gay kissing" was too distracting. i can't believe how immature I must have been when i wrote that review. This movie has a much bigger message and meaning than a couple scene's of gay kissing. Sean Penn gives an all round great performance. He totally transformed himself for this role, and deserving won the academy award for it. I have never seen an actor have to change his mannerisms as much as Penn did for this role. Josh Brolin gives a out of this world performance as Dan White. it was unfortunate this movie came out in 2007, and if it hadn't been for the incredible performance by Heath Ledger, Brolin would of won the oscar without a second thought. I very very, very good performance. James Franco and Emile Hirsch are also good in there roles, but not on the same level as Penn or Brolin. The movie was very well made, and used archive footage mixed with the film itself to add affect, and the narrative point of view screenwriter Dustin Lance Black uses is great. Having the whole movie as a recap of Harvey Milk's life by Harvey Milk was ingenious. A very well made film, and I apologize to anyone who had the misfortune of reading my previous review of this movie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Deserving of an Academy Award Not since Tom Hanks' s Academy Award winning role in Philadelphia has such a remarkable film been made. A stunning, sensitive, subtle and gutsy performance by Sean Penn, who carries this film almost single-handedly. The story of Harvy Milk, what he stood for, what he advocated, is one that will resonate throughout society for decades to come. Definitely one of the 'must-see' films for anyone with a social conscience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Milk is a must-see I could gush about this film for paragraphs but I think all that really needs to be said is that this film is important for so many reasons. It is beautiful, the performances are outstanding and the story is one the world should know. Harvey Milk wanted equality and love for all, all that it takes to be a hero.
