Psycho (Ws) is rated 4 out of 5 by 2.
When Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) leaves her lover and embezzles $40,000, she heads for the highway and makes a fateful stop along the way. The Bates Motel sits atop its little hill, looking run-down and foreboding, but she doesn't realize there's much more hiding behind its walls. As she lies low, hoping to elude the police, the real danger lurks closer by. Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) slowly stalks her as per instructions from his silent mama. Alfred Hitchcock's ultimate masterpiece, Psycho, raised the bar for horror films and has seldom been matched since.

Synopsis

The horror film that spawned a thousand imitations, not to mention three sequels. A busty blonde pockets $40,000 in stolen cash following a tryst with her divorced lover. Afterwards, she heads up to a remote rural motel run by psychotic mama's boy Norman Bates. The stage is now set for a classic tale of terror and depravity that includes a crossing-dressing murderer, stuffed corpses, the ultimate Oedipal conflict, and, of course, the most notorious shower scene ever filmed.

Description

Norman Bates, the tremulous manager of a dilapidated roadside hotel and an amateur taxidermist with a predilection for birds, suffers under the domination of his "mother," who rather savagely disapproves of fast women. Generally considered the progenitor of the horror genre, and an unmitigated masterpiece. Based on the eponymous novel by Robert Bloch. Academy Award Nominations: 4, including Best Director, Best Supporting Actress. The Collector's Edition DVD includes a "making of" featurette, cast and crew interviews, and other bonus material.
