Makeup was by some of the top artists and technicians in the business. Makeup technicians included Stuart Freeborn, Rick Baker and Doug Beswick.
The special effects illustration designer is Joe Johnston. Additional spacecraft design by Colin Cantwell. Miniature explosions by Joseph Viskocil and Auer Gregory. Modelmaker supervisor Grant McCune headed a team of modelists including David Beasley, Jon Erland, Lorne Peterson, Steve Gawley, Paul Huston and David M. Jones. Alvah J. Miller was electronic designer.
Computer animators Larry Cuba, John Walsh, Jay Teitzell worked with Image West Ltd. and a team of animators including: Michael Ross, Peter Kuran, Jonathan Seay, Chris Casady, Lyn Gerry, and Diana Wilson.
The special mechanical equipment crew included Jerry Greenwood, Douglas Barnett, Stuart Ziff and David Scott.
Camera and mechanical design by Don Trumbull and Richard Alexander and James Shourt who also designed special components.
"Star Wars" was theatrically released in USA May 25, 1977. The film was given a video release June 1982. Dolby noise reduction and 6-track surround sound were introduced into theaters with the release of "Star Wars."
Fox Video Laserdisc #5651-80 was time-compressed to fit the entire film on one disc.
