Sweet Hereafter (Ws) is rated 4 out of 5 by 1.
Canadian director Atom Egoyan's critically acclaimed The Sweet Hereafter received the Grand Jury award at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival. Adapted from Russell Banks' novel, this beautifully filmed movie focuses on a small Canadian town. The locals' lives are seriously disrupted by the arrival of a ruthless lawyer after a tragic accident involving a school bus killed many of the town's children. One girl who survived, however, evades the attorney: a young woman now confined to a wheelchair (played by Canada's Sarah Polley).
