Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointing I enjoyed the first two Bourne films. A violent, intelligent, multi-talented character who doesn't remember his past or who he is, Bourne provided irresistable, intriguing escapism. I found it easy to suspend disbelief and go along for the ride. This third effort, however, insults the viewer's intelligence on too many levels. The plot is nonsensical and full of holes and the camera work is irritating. Unlike the first two films I didn't engage with this at all. At the end my reaction was an underwhelming - so what? The makers have gone for an easy option, formulaic hotch potch - a "this will do, it's only an action movie" product lacking in character, motivation or even thought. This could have been a great series. A series it will still probably be, but any pretence at quality has gone with this poor effort

Rated out of 5 by from The perfect ending to the Trilogy When I watched this film, it went straight to the top of my favourite movie's list. It has since fell off, not because it gets worse for second viewings. This movie ends the Trilogy perfectly. A great ending. Matt Damon again gives a great performance, and I like Joan Allen in this too. Paul Greengrass did a great job in his second Bourne movie. I hope they don't make anymore, this was abgreat way to end the Triolgy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bourne is back! After seeing the Bourne Identity and Supremacy, I was definitely interested in the Bourne Ultimatum. Very impressed with this one! All the missing pieces of the story were put together well and it was full of heart-pounding action with Jason Bourne eliminating anyone in his way and trying to find out answers to his fragmented memory of who he really was.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What ultimatum? This installment was superior to the second, but still does not touch the first for quality of script, action, direction, plot, etc. Like the second film, this one is basically a cat and mouse movie where either Bourne is chasing someone, or someone is chasing Bourne. Like the second one, the annoying camera shake and fast cuts confuse the action and leave you dazzled but not captivated. Why spend all that money filming great action sequences only to totally obscure them by shaking the camera and cutting so fast you cannot see what is happening? Oh well, they do a pretty good job of wrapping up the storyline, although they fail to give any insight into who David Webb was before he became Jason Bourne, and they fail to provide closure to the storyline by leaving it ambiguous as to whether the culprits will dangle in the wind or be allowed immunity for their actions. Through the whole movie I was waiting for Bourne's ultimatum, but it never came. An ultimatum is a final statement of terms made by one party to another. Well, no one dictated terms to anyone, nor did Webb have terms dictated to him before he became Bourne. I was also hoping for some sort of message from this film, but there really wasn't one other than "look what they have made us become". I'm not sure if that is a shot at the US Govt and Military who have created such a panic and paranoia that people are willing to go to the extremes of killing without remorse or without knowledge of who they are killing or why.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bourne Ultimatum If you liked the 1st two movies in this series, you'll love this 3rd installment. Lots of action, keeps you very interested and in your seat kind of movie, no really slow spots. Stars Matt Damon, Julia Stiles & Scott Glen all great acting. I highly recommend this movie.
