Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1st american war film that told solders story One of the best films that I have seen in the past 10 years. It was able to give you a good action story, without making the american GI.s super solders. The way the director was able to show an EOD tech as true as she did was outstanding. It showed that they are a breed by themself. The true feelings of a man with young son back in the USA and how he made friends with a young Iraqi boy. With the true sites and sound of a very brutal war.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This won an Oscar? American propaganda at its best. The main character just goes from one bomb situation to another in an endless parade of threats the American military faces in Iraq. There was no real story other than "this is what the bomb guys do in Iraq". Then, the main character returns after his first tour is over to do the same thing over again. Maybe the point is the pointlessness of war, but the lead seemed to be having too much fun acting like some kind of cowboy. I doubt war is that much fun.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from What was the big deal? I don't get what the big deal was about this movie. I certainly can't see why it won best director. I think Up In the Air or Avatar should have won that. I think this is just a case of American propaganda and yet the movie was really only superficially about Iraq. Just a renter.

Rated out of 5 by from One of the best movie of 2009 The Hurt Locker, is one of those movie's that I would normally Skip when I was out looking for a movie to watch. So after all the "Oscar" talk the movie has been receiving, I decided to watch the trailer for it. I was hooked right than in there. The trailer, is one of the best of all time, and funny thing is, almost all of the scene's from the trailer are from the first half of the movie, so it didn't ruin anything for me. I was excepting this action junkie movie, as it is directed by Kathryn Bigelow. I was surprised to learn, how this is actually, a character study movie, with a twist. It studies the character, which by the way, was brilliantly portrayed by Jeremy Renner, but it shows you, how some people just...... I am not going to ruin it anymore. Anthony Mackie also gives a great performance. An awesome movie, and one of the best of the year, and maybe even the decade.
