For her son's birthday, former river guide Gail has cooked up a special surprise: she's taking him on a white-water rafting trip. This doesn't sit too well with her wimpy husband Tom, whose reluctance to come along doesn't help an already troubled marriage. But these problems pale in comparison to what happens when Gail decides to help Wade and Terry, two seemingly friendly guys who are left stranded on the river when their guide disappears. The duo joins the family in their raft -- and quickly reveal their true colors: they're murderous, loathsome criminals who want Gail to use her rafting knowledge to help them elude the cops. They force her to negotiate the Gauntlet, deadly rapids where three rivers converge. As she attempts to navigate these treacherous waters, Tom -- who has managed to escape -- hatches a plan to nab the two felons. They'll both have to succeed in order to stay alive...
In this taut action thriller a struggling husband and wife take their son on a white-water rafting trip in hopes they can patch up their troubled marriage. While on the trip, the family is hijacked by a pair of criminals who need the wife's rafting expertise to get them down the river.
