Not yet rated | write a review
Personnel: Warren Haynes; Kelly Holland, Col. Bruce Hampton, Derek Trucks, Edwin McCain, Jimmy Herring, Johnny Neel, Larry McCray, Little Milton, Paul Riddle, Audley Freed, Susan Tedeschi, Robert Kearns, Jason Patterson.
Recording information: Thomas Wolfe Audtorium, Asheville, NC (1999).
Recorded live in Asheville, North Carolina, in the December 1999, this collection is misleadingly titled to suggest a complete Warren Haynes live album, when in actuality it plays like THE LAST WALTZ for the jam band set, with the original line-up of Haynes's Gov't Mule cast in the role of the Band. While a Band reference might be a bit generous, Haynes and his friends--including the Derek Trucks Band and Susan Tedeschi, among many others--certainly capture the freewheeling spirit of a bygone era with convincing aplomb and capable chops. All pan-hippie ground is covered here--Rasta shout-outs, bluesy romps, epic jams, and covers learned from Dead bootlegs. This 2007 reissue features two new songs from the Gov't Mule set that have never before been released.
