Patsy Cline was, and still is, the best female voice in country music history. Her legendary songs pass the test of time to emerge on The Patsy Cline Collection – a definitive look at her all-too-brief career. She was the master of the ballad, putting every ounce of emotion in her body into each song, and few singers today have command over their range like she had. Fans of her early music will be happy with the radio transcriptions, while “Crazy” and “I Fall To Pieces” will satisfy those remembering her hits.

Editorial Notes

The first compilation to chronologically survey the career of Patsy Cline, who died in a plane crash at age 30. Cline's recording career can be divided into 2 periods: the first was 1955-1960, when she recorded 51 tracks for 4 Star Music; the second was 1960-1963 (the year of her death) during which she recorded 51 songs for Decca. This collection of 104 cuts includes the entire Decca catalog plus the best of her recordings from her 4 Star Music period with 10 previously unreleased tracks; including 2 radio transcriptions, 3 live tracks and 2 recordings cut months before her first commercial contract with 4 Star. The set includes both versions of "Walkin' After Midnight" (the 1957 "country" version and the 1961 pop version). The tracks were remastered from session tapes, with live performances taken from original two-track mono master tapes. The 68-page booklet has many rare photos (in B&W and color), extensive notes, color reproductions of Patsy's EPs and LPs and liner notes by Paul Kingsbury of The Country Music Foundation.
