The Lost Hero

by Rick Riordan

Disney-Hyperion | April 3, 2012 | Trade Paperback

The Lost Hero is rated 5 out of 5 by 2.
Jason has a problem. He doesn''t remember anything before waking up on a school bus holding hands with a girl. Apparently she''s his girlfriend Piper, his best friend is a kid named Leo, and they''re all students in the Wilderness School, a boarding school for "bad kids." What he did to end up here, Jason has no idea-except that everything seems very wrong.

Piper has a secret. Her father has been missing for three days, and her vivid nightmares reveal that he''s in terrible danger. Now her boyfriend doesn''t recognize her, and when a freak storm and strange creatures attack during a school field trip, she, Jason, and Leo are whisked away to someplace called Camp Half-Blood. What is going on?

Leo has a way with tools. His new cabin at Camp Half-Blood is filled with them. Seriously, the place beats Wilderness School hands down, with its weapons training, monsters, and fine-looking girls. What''s troubling is the curse everyone keeps talking about, and that a camper''s gone missing. Weirdest of all, his bunkmates insist they are all-including Leo-related to a god.

Rick Riordan, the best-selling author of the Percy Jackson series, pumps up the action and suspense in The Lost Hero, the first book in The Heroes of Olympus series. Fans of demi-gods, prophesies, and quests will be left breathless--and panting for Book Two.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Amazing Series!!! This is an amazing start to a great series! Rick Riordan is an amazing author and I would definitely recommend his books. I would also recommend any of Rick's other books. This book is the first in a sequel series to "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" which is also an excellent series of wonderful and well written books. If you haven't read them yet, then I would recommend reading them first, before reading this book, or any of the other books in this series. but if you have, the I would completely recommend this one. Percy is unfortunately not in it, but he is in the next book so look out for The Son of Neptune too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Excellent Start to the New Series I love that Rick Riordan has begun a new series that is actually a companion series to "Percy Jackson and the Olympians". Although I really missed Percy and friends in this book, Riordan did an excellent job introducing three new heroes that will be part of the Prophecy of Seven. Jason, son of Zeus (but really Jupiter) is the classic strong hero, but with a case of amnesia, which makes learning about him especially interesting as it becomes clear that he is not the Greek demigod everyone assumes. Piper and Leo are great companions, and I'm especially fond of Piper as she struggles to differentiate between reality and fantasy. I really want a happy ending for her and Jason (fingers crossed!) I love that the book ends with a teaser to where Percy is; Annabeth has been going crazy looking for him and I can't wait for her to find in the the Roman camp. It's going to be interesting. If you were a fan of the "Olympians" series, then you will definitely want to get your hands on the first book of the "Heroes of Olympus" series as Riordan promises an amazing new adventure. I've already read this book 4 times, and cannot wait for the rest of the series to be published. If only they would come out faster!
