Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Fun to Customize to make Movie-Accurate!! Finally we have a set with the actual-size Metalbeard!! He looks great on display! I found that he was pretty easy to stand up; some leg positions made him fall but that's hard to avoid. Looks great in a classic leg stance though!! Fun to build. Sure it isn't movie-accurate exactly, but that's why I bought it--it's super fun to customize him yourself to the movie version!! You can pull up a picture of the movie Metalbeard online and compare the two, adding and removing bricks as needed. Certainly a different Lego building experience, and fun to see how many changes you can make. In the end, my own model looks pretty much exactly like the movie model!! Despite its minor flaws this set is a must-have for all Lego Movie lovers. Many have said that after buying this set and being disappointed they won't buy any other sets in the movie line. Trust me, not all are like this!! Benny's Spaceship is nearly brick-for-brick accurate, for anyone who wants an accurate set!! Do not be turned away from the other wonderful sets in the movie line!! With a few tweaks, this set is a fantastic buy and a super fun, enjoyable set!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ARRRRRRRRRRR! My 7 year old son received this set for Christmas and he asked me to help him assemble it so I decided that I would review it as well. It came together in just about an hour and the instructions were very easy to follow. My son assembled the micro manager by himself with minimal help from me and it looks great. It is also very sturdy and stands up well on its own. I assembled the Metalbeard figure (at my son's insistence) because this part of the build was much more intricate, with smaller pieces and tiny details. It came together much easier than I thought it would, taking about a half hour to complete, and all of the elements fit and hold together very well. The cannons even shoot! It has been some time since I've encountered a set with cannons and once upon a time, Lego made non-firing cannons (probably for safety reasons). It is good to see that they've since rescinded that decision. My only complaint is that the treasure chest in his chest does not stay closed very well. The sausage and the bone within could potentially fall out, but that is my only complaint. Despite the peg leg, the figure stands well on its own and is quite posable. It looks amazing, and with the mini figures included, the price seems about right. A great representation of the character from the movie and a great addition to the line of sets from the movie. Enjoy, and happy building!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It takes a while to build, but the instruction book is very precise and the overall detail the creators added to the product were outstanding. Lots of compliments from friends on how far LEGO has come.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from For the display not to play with This is a beautiful set. Very detailed, almost exactly mirroring the characters in the movie. Certainly a good value if .. you are a collector and want to display them not to play with it. Especially the details from Metal Beard are falling down with every move so it makes the playtime diffficult. But other than this this is a great set.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK set, VERY fragile This set looked amazing as I saw it, but I was sadly disappointed. Metalbeard is VERY fragile even while building. If you so much as squeeze too much you'll break it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was my first Lego Movie Set. After weeks of looking at this set in the catalog, my mom surprised me by taking me to Legoland California. I was looking at the Lego store when my mom asked me if I wanted something. I went into the store and got the set. I washed my hands before I built it. PROS: METALBEARD!! a helpless citizen, a skeletron, and an awesome Micro Manager. CONS: … Ummmm…. I honestly can come up with any! I would recommend this to someone else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Metal Beard I am back with another review. It is the first lego movie review. Lets dive right in. Let us start with the mini figures which is the weakest part. You get to cool robots and the worst character from the Lego Movie, Frank the Foreman. He is a nice figure but I don't like him. Now onto the micro manager. He is really cool but ugh he is hard to stand up. Now onto Metal Beard. He is the reason I got this set. He has a lot of cool pieces but parts of him fall off. So now onto the final verdict So overall I give this set a B+

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant It's been many-a-year since I last had a new set of LEGO to build, and this particular set was an excellent way to become re-addicted to LEGO. Fantastic set, fun to build with interesting features.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The name be MetalBeard! And I be movie inaccurate! Well, as the title says, MetalBeard's Duel is another movie inaccurate LEGO Movie set. What are you gonna do? Anyway, I'll try to judge the set based on it's own merits. I'll start with the minifigures. SWAT SOLDIER Generic little clone robot soldier. Good to shoot at Metalbeard, but will only end up getting stomped/sliced/tossed by the fiesty pirate! And he can sit inside the Micro Manager's head. FRANK Frank is....Emmet's boss? The film didn't quite specify. He isn't a biggie in the movie, so he's not much to be excited over. SKELETRON Now here's a figure! A mechanical skeleton with red eyes! Reminds you of T2 Terminator! He is the best fig in this set, though (Here it comes) he isn't movie accurate. In the movie he was completely chrome, and he would have looked great had they done him this way, but I suppose it would be much trouble to mold all his parts in pure silver. Siiiiigh. Well, Metalbeard himself is obviously the highlight of the set, with his huge imposing mass! Well, he is quite interesting to study. He has a few generic piratey elements, i.e. pirate hat, eyepatch, peg leg, and ship parts for body. But WHAT a character! He has a treasure chest on his chest containing a hot dog and a dog bone. Now, this confused me until I saw the movie-it is obviously his organs that Lord Business tossed out after his first encounter with the pirate. Good detailing LEGO! He also has....a grey parrot?! Stumped on that one, guys. He also has a shark, which I also don't get, plus a giant sword. Excellent character, just to look at him and try to figure him out. And his arm cannons are neat-this is like the first set in which you can get 2 pirate cannons that was not an expensive ship. Gotta love that. So on to the formidable(?) Micro manager. Neat villain. It comes with hidden flick missiles, which could be fatal to MB if the Manager gets a direct hit. It comes with posable arms, which don't hold much, actually. So the set is pretty interesting. It is actually quite good for letting your violent side out and having an awesome knockout fight between machines! So is it perfect? No, MetalBeard is still quite inaccurate to his movie mode, which is kinda sad, and you aggravatingly can't grasp MB in a lot off places without twisting some part or assembly. With that said, the set is probably the best LEGO Movie set I have. Get it for Pirate lovers or LEGO Movie fans, it is pretty select for something fresh and neat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Metalbeard, almost LEGO Movie accurate I really loved The LEGO Movie and particularly loved the steampunk Metalbeard character. I was initially holding back on getting this set because I was also holding out for Metalbeard's Sea Cow - hoping it would appear in a sale somewhere - and didn't really want to end up with two Metalbeard characters. However, on closer inspection of the Sea Cow images I noticed that the Metalbeard character was a much smaller character and lacked much of the detail of the Movie. So I decided to get this set afterall. I must say that it has been a great set to build, with lots of small detailed parts that portray the Movie character very well. My only criticism is that for the sake of a few pieces LEGO could have made Metalbeard a 100% movie accurate model. I've gone through the movie and paused at key points and noticed small details that could've easily been included, such as a single gold stud, or a 2x4 grey piece for his back. A few pieces for a 3rd mini cannon and an extra long chain connecting his chest to his right arm. There are a couple other differences, but again minor ones and should have been included. At most the extra pieces would have only cost £1. That aside I can recommend this set and I have no regrets buying it whatsoever and it should provide entertainment for all ages.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great LEGO Toy! This lego set was great! I loved the detail, it was challenging yet simple to build, People of all ages will enjoy this great set. The only thing I would have to complain about (If anything!) is that the sword is difficult to hold, it's dropped a lot and is really frustrating for a brickfilmer as myself. Also, the body parts have a difficult time moving and is pretty sketchy for those of you who brickfilm. I would recommend this product to anyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great set with one not so good feature I am so glad I decided to buy MetalBeard's duel. This comes with an awesome Micro Manager and an even better MetalBeard. It also includes a construction worker, Skeletron, and Robo Swat. You can even put the Robo Swat inside the Micro Manager. MetalBeard's cannons can shoot far. MetalBeard even includes a cool sword. You can connect MetalBeard's cannon ammo to the steering wheel. The shark on MetalBeard's arm has an opening mouth. The only bad feature of this set is that the cannon ammo falls out of MetalBeard's cannons a lot. Overall, this is a cool set.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Satisfying I still put together the micromanager and the mini figures, but the star of the set is Metalbeard himself. Even though he isn't as posable as I had hoped, he can still accept a wide range of stances. The hilt of the sword tends to drop off from time to time, the hand doesn't close over it very elegantly, and I wouldn't consider this a figure that can be used heavily for playtime. Despite these minor quibbles, seeing the figure sitting on my desk at work makes me smile and has elicited more than one conversation (all good).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good, but could be better I bought this set after seeing the Lego Movie, the Metalbeard character was brilliant and was the main reason I got this set. I wasn't really interested in the Micro Manager, but I still built it, it goes together well and was easy to put together. I found that the legs and arms are a little restricted in their movements, for example it's quite difficult to pose it in a realistic walking pose. The Metalbeard model is a very good kit in its own right, although there are quite a few differences from the character seen in the film. Again the model was easy to put together, and thanks to the use of ball and socket joints can be put in almost any pose. I enjoyed building Metalbeard more than the Micro Manager. The only problems I had with Metalbeard were that the horizontal part of the flag pole was a bit loose and kept rotating so I ended up gluing it together (No Gragle though, just some rubber glue which is removable!), and the sword keeps coming apart, I have posed my model with the sword in his right hand and it took quite a while to get the hand to grip the sword without parts falling off either the sword or the hand. This could become annoying for children playing with the model, but not really an issue for me as my models tend to just sit on a shelf. :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from How Difficult it is to keep together The good guy is hard to keep together. The bad guy is not. you don't want to put him in a bag because he will fall apart. The top can swing open for the bad guy, and it has two hidden missiles and can hold 3 people. The good guy has a cannon. My 9 year old son's review of the set. I'd add, like the other Lego Movie sets it's got a fair degree of difficulty for elementary aged kids to put together. As he said the Pirate robot tends to fall apart fairly easily, but it can be put back together fairly easily and hasn't been as upsetting in play as the other set we received for their birthday present.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Steampunk much? This was a great set! I'm glad I paid the money to buy this! I love how there is so much detail packed into it. With all the pirate/Victorian style late-17th century looks, it appeared very steam punk-like. And it made my day when I saw the steam pipe on it. One thing I do not appreciate about the set is the sword. I am unaware why lego keeps doing this to the lego ninjago mechs, but they don't really have a secure way to hold the sword. Ok for stop motions, but the sword makes the play itself very incompatible. Still a great set if you're willing to modify the hand to fit better with the sword.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice set Really enjoy all the attention to details in this set. We had to get it to go with all of our other Lego pirate stuff. Set is a relaxing build, with no painfully difficult parts. They all fit nicely and the characters are very neat looking. Can't wait to see them in the movie! Only thing I can see as an issue is some of the joints may wear out after excessive/hard play... However they are made to be played with so let them enjoy it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant! This was the third Lego Movie set I bought, and I have to say this one is my favourite (with the Ice Cream Van coming a close second!)! A bonkers character in the movie, and a build to match! Metalbeard isn't a challenging character to make, but it's a fun build and thoroughly enjoyed the hour or so it took to construct him and the Micro Manager Robot. You get three great Minifigures too - my favourite been Frank The Foreman. The Robo SWAT is a welcome addition to my ever growing army of robots (from the other sets I own) and I think this is the first time I've seen a robot skeleton! Metalbeard has some great features too: The shark on his arm, the cannons which fire bombs, his treasure chest, the huge sword attached to his back and his peg leg! The only tiny criticism I have is the gold flag which is attached to the pole on his back doesn't stay up. Not a major disaster but something worth pointing out. Hats off to Lego and the designers of the movie characters for Metalbeard - a truly wacky looking pirate...and all the better for it. I look forward to seeing him in action on the big screen in February!
