Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Ryan Gosling Show Drive is an intriguing movie that has been on my radar for a while now. It came up as a sort of indie/art-house movie, but received amazing reviews upon its release. This year also happened to be a year in which I have become a huge Ryan Gosling fan, so that peaks my interest as well. I want to call this an action movie, but it really isn't. There are only a few scenes of action, that are extremely well done, but they come few and far in between. This is more of a drama, you could almost make the case its a gangster movie. Director Nicolas Winding Refn is absolutely brilliant in making this movie entertaining and interesting to watch. Some spots do get dry and boring, but they quickly go away by brilliant film making. This movie features an all time great performance by Ryan Gosling. he has a almost Robert De Niro-Taxi Driver vibe to him. He is the nameless stranger who dosen't talk a lot. There are scenes where you see this sensitive person and than like that he goes serious and almost psychopathic. He does this all without saying much. Its a performance that will stay with you long after the movie is over. Carey Mulligan plays Gosling's love interest, and she also has a role where she dosen't speak much. Its really a role that dosen't impress, but is exactly what the movie needed from her. Bryan Cranston and Albert Brooks provide almost all of the entertaining dialogue, and they are both great in there given roles. Overall, this is a movie that is hard to explain, but one that will impress and stay with you long after it has ended.
