Nickelodeon is pretty brave to wade into Pixar territory, you've got to say that for them.... Jimmy Neutron is a pleasant, often quite clever film that plays like "Rugrats in Space." Our hero, James Isaac Neutron, has a Dairy Queen 'do and a sizeable brain underneath, which often gets him into trouble. Jimmy gets great ideas for inventions, but his execution often needs work and calamity usually follows his proud unveilings. After his toaster-based communications satellite allows a race of Grade-A aliens to invade his hometown and kidnap all the adults, Jimmy and a motley band of classmates -- most of whom tease him for his nerdish leanings -- must go where no kids have gone before in order to save the day. The feel is family-friendly, the scary parts not too scary, and the animation is refreshingly unreal -- the kids look like cartoons, though their interactions are pretty realistic. After all, everyone knows that the smart kids generally come into their own, and a lifetime of teasing can't keep a good brain down.
