Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Smart and Sometimes Cruel Comedy This is a movie that has been sitting on my shelf for a long time. I have had a hard time getting to watch it, because nothing about this movie really jumped out to me, nothing to get really excited about. I have been sick that last couple days so I finally sat down and watched it. The movie really surprised me by how much I enjoyed it. The best thing about this movie, is that it dosen't take itself to seriously. It knows its a comedy and excels in doing so. The people making this movie did an awesome job in casting this movie. Aaron Johnson really dosen't look like a leading man throughout this movie, but he charisma and delivery make him perfect for the role. I could not really imagine anyone else in the role. Nicolas Cage was shockingly very good in his role. He has done dud after dud these last couple years, and maybe this is a sign he can turn it around. Mark Strong again plays the role of the villain with perfection. He is getting so good at it it is like he isn't even trying. I would like to see him try being a good guy for a change. Chloë Moretz is the star of the movie has Cage's daughter. She has the confidence to embrace the role, and also shows the emotion that shows she will be a big time actress very soon. it is also one of the funniest characters you will ever see, just for the fact she is 11 and talks the way she does talk. The thing that also gives this movie an edge, is the fact it embraces its R rating. It has gore, it has swearing and yes, it has sex. The great thing though, is they don't over use this stuff, they use it to the benefit of the movie and makes it a really entertaining watch. Overall, a really humorous movie, but don't take it seriously, because it dosen't.
