Things are a bit rough at first, but as Ted's fathering skills develop, the two come to know each other, and form a strong bond. Then Joanna suddenly re-enters their lives... announcing that she wants custody of Billy. Ted loves his son too much to hand him over so easily, prompting a bitter court battle that will affect the lives of all three.
