Description

When a unicorn is captured by the Lord of Darkness, winter threatens to envelop the world forever. The only hope is that a forest prince and a motley band of dwarves, elves and fairies can rescue the unicorn, defeat the agents of Darkness and restore sunshine to the world. Mia Sara's film debut. Rob Bottin crew members: Richard White (production manager); Henry Alvarez (sculptural design); Vince Prentice (lead special make-up artist); John Goodwin (lab technician supervisor); and Margaret Beserra (cosmetic print supervisor). Stanley Sayer of Fotherly Ltd., Peerless Camera Co., served as matte photography consultant. Hugh Harlow served as production supervisor. Filmed on the Bond set at Pinewood Studios in England. Production was delayed when the set burned down. Filmed in Panavision and Fujicolor. Released in the United States in April 1986. The European version of "Legend" is 20 minutes longer than the 89-minute American cut and features a Jerry Goldsmith score. Screened August 26, 1985, as the opening film for the Venice Film Festival.
