Synopsis

In the year 2020, NASA launches the first manned expedition to the surface of Mars. While exploring a dome-like structure, the team is attacked by a powerful force that kills all but one member, Luke Graham (Cheadle). When the grounded team receives a transmission from Graham, they mount a rescue mission consisting of recently-widowed Jim McConnell (Sinise), married couple Woody Blake and Terri Fisher (Robbins and Nielsen) and young Phil Ohlmeyer (O’Connell). When the rescue team finally arrives on Mars after a series of catastrophes, they find Graham still alive. During his time stranded on the red planet, Graham has conducted research on the dome and discovered a possible means of communicating with it. Together the team prepares for contact with the unknown force inside the dome. And when they finally gain entrance into the structure, secrets both alien and human are revealed.
