A suspense thriller which finds Grant mistaken for a spy by secret agent Mason. Considered by many to be the prototypical "pure" action movie such as the James Bond and Indiana Jones films. Originally called "The Man in Lincoln's Nose," the title "North by Northwest" came from a quote by Hamlet: "I am but mad north-north-west." Ernest Lehman received the Edgar Allen Poe Award for Best Screenplay of 1959. Additional cast: Robert Ellenstein (Licht), Philip Coolidge (Dr. Cross), Patrick McVey (Chicago Policeman), Ken Lynch (Chicago Policeman), Robert B. Williams, and John Berardino.
