Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable Film This movie was better than i expected. I went in expecting this Disney movie, that has it's edges rounded off for the kids to enjoy. For some parts tough, that is exactly what the movie is though. a kid friendly, edges rounded off movie. But you know what, I don't care. The movie worked, and even though it was very clean and kid friendly, the movie easily entertaining. I think the best thing about it, was the acting performances. Jeff Bridges, Chris Cooper and William H. Macy are all great in there roles. Chris Cooper in particular, I was very impressed with. It was a different role for him, one I did not see coming. The movie's lead, Tobey Maguire was decent, but nothing really great from him. This is my first non-spider-man role from him, and he shows he has potential, but this wasen't really a role for him to showcase his acting ability. I think the reason this film is just good, and not exceptional, is the screenplay. Like i said, the movies is too polished, and some of the lines that come out of the characters mouths, sound like there giving motivational speeches. The movie is decent and entertaining, and made good by some great performances by Jeff Bridges and Chris Cooper.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SO FRIGGING GOOD It was an interesting movie, very true to the book and it must have been inspiring to look to this race horse during the times of the Depression. He may have brought happiness to people's lives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seabiscuit and the Hope during the Depression Based on a true story of a horse that was written off only to capture the hearts and prizes of the American horse racing scene. Seabiscuit's magic was his heart. He defeated the legendary pedigreed Man O' War despite his awkward form with his heart determined to win. It's the kind of movie to make you believe that horses have a magic all their own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent (Canadian) Story Seabiscuit is a very good movie. Go see it. But keep this in mind: Red Pollard wasn't American! The book, Seabiscuit, has American Legend written on it. And on this website, it says great American story, but as I recall the main character of this movie is a CANADIAN! And not even in the movie do they say what town he is from. I mean talk about trying to glorify this great American inspirational story, when such a huge part of the story belongs to Canada. I'm quite sure that Pollard inspired SOME Canadians along the way too. I'm so tired of seeing American movies ignore us. Red Pollard was born in EDMONTON, ALBERTA, CANADA, and he raced all around North America, not just the US, and Mexico as it seemed.
