Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow What a fantastic way to give this franchise a new life. I loved it. It was funny but not too campy and definitely paid homage to the Star Trek series I remember from when I was a kid. The actors chosen to fill the shoes of Kirk, Spock and Bones were great. Bones especially was spot on. Loved it. Shame on you if you didn't see it in the theatre. Go out and Buy it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Live Long and Prosper! JJ Abrams delivers once again! This is perhaps my favourite movie of the 2009 season and I am not a Trekkie. Everything about this movie is just fantastic. Casting is spot on, with Zachary Quinto holding his own against Leonard Nimoy as Spock, Chris Pine fills the leading role quite nicely as Captain Kirk and Karl Urban is a scene stealer as Bones. This movie has it all: great story, great action, great cast, great humour. Can't wait for the next one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Stuff! My husband and I don't get around to be the movie goers that we once were before we had a herd of children. Watching this DVD was a great choice and got us excited about movie nights at home again. Agreed - you need not be a trekkie to totally enjoy this one. My bro is a huge trekkie and he loves it, I'm not and I loved it. My husband who is a Chandler type liked it - love is reserved for bacon and beer. Get it, watch it, you'll enjoy it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I cried, then I laughed and laughed, it was an all around great movie! You don't HAVE to be a Trekkie to appreciate this movie, though Trekkies will most likely love it! Ity was brilliant. My hubby and I saw it at the theater and were on the edge of our seat til the end when the audience erupted in cheers and applause. The main actors were very well chosen. Bones just cracks me up. Loved this movie.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What is necessary is never unwise I haven’t followed Star Trek very much, only watched a handful of episodes. So my rating is based on what I saw on screen compared to the critiques from people who are self-proclaimed “Trekkies/Trekkers” or just ritualistic followers minus the label. This was an awesome movie with a younger cast, appealing to anyone who may see the sexiness of Vulcan’s now. There was definitely a lot of action to keep me interested and some meaningful dialogue as well as bits of humour especially between the young Kirk and Spock. Quite an intense few hours with a fresh new look at what may come for the Enterprise. Live long and prosper.
