The feminist road movie that gave vent to women's anger... and launched a thousand heated debates. Two women get on down the highway in an attempt to escape their boring, bland lives -- at least for the weekend. And when one pulls the trigger to protect her friend from a rapist, that's exactly what happens. Too scared to stop and explain the situation to police -- and sure that authorities wouldn't believe them anyway -- the avenging duo continue down the road, taking aim against misogynists, harassers, and obnoxious southern good old boys. But all roads come to an end... and when it does, Thelma and Louise have a hard, painful choice to make.
Naive Thelma and jaded Louise take off for a simple weekend free of
men and wind up outlaws blazing a cathartic trail across the
American Southwest. Branded male-bashing, T&L parodies the
entire American sexual landscape where male chauvinism, wifely
docility and feminist pessimism create a tragic-comic triangle.
