How can one simple old shoe-shine man fool a cunning crime boss into thinking that he’s an equally powerful mobster? By just being himself, of course. Don Ameche stars as Gino, a kindly old guy who agrees to take the rap for a mob hit, since they are willing to pay him handsomely when he gets out. Joe Mantegna is Jerry, a young hoodlum hired to protect the old man while he awaits custody. Bored with his confinement, Jerry decides to take Gino to Tahoe for a little fun. But a Local mobster recognizes them and decides to bring them to his boss. Now, Gino and Jerry must walk a fine line between relaxing with the local don (Robert Prosky) and becoming his victim. The performances in Things Change are truly wonderful, blending perfect comic timing with real emotional depth.
