Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The definitive WWII series The World at War series is without a doubt the best WWII series ever produced. For students of the history of warfare, this is a not to be missed series. The documentary format along with Laurence Olivier's narration grabs the viewer's interest at the outset and doesn't let go until all 11 discs are finished. From the history of the Nazis party's early success after WWI, this series traces the causes and history of WWII and it's major battles and engagements including the final solution in the persecution of the Jews. I saw the original series when it first came out in the early 1970's and was very pleased to see it released on DVD now. The BBC World War II series is a great accompaniment to this series especially with it's history of the concentration camps. This DVD set is well worth the money as it can be viewed time and time again plus it is a great reference for students of history and for future generations who don't know the price paid for the freedom which we now enjoy.
