Chemins de Verre

Performers Karkwa

Not yet rated | write a review
Karkwa went for a stripped-down, back to basics sound on their fourth studio album, Chemins de Verre, which won the Polaris Music Prize in 2010. Some of the best cuts here are those whose folk/country core is coated in additional wrappings, like percussion, synth backdrops, and electric guitars, while others rely on a simple setup of slow acoustics, light piano, and vocals. What results is a pleasantly introspective mood, the musical equivalent of a walk in a Quebec forest on a dusky Indian summer evening. ~ Alexey Eremenko
