Every Day I Have the Blues

Performers Elmore James

Personnel include: Elmore James (vocals, guitar, slide guitar).
Elmore James's ferocious, sharp-as-a-knife slide and primal tenor are enough to light a fire under even the most sedentary of listeners. Such is the force of James's playing and singing, in fact, that there are few recordings that fail to capture something of his magic.
That said, even this relatively faceless budget collection (the set contains no liner notes whatsoever, a fact many blues aficionados will find disconcerting) packs a serious wallop. James's command of the rolling blues (as evidenced here by "Dust My Boom," one of the bluesman's signature tracks), high-octane boogie ("Shake Your Moneymaker"), and downtempo scorchers ("Anna Lee") is in full effect on this 16-track dose of vintage slide blues.
