Bryan Ferry is nothing if not a restless musical heart. Like David Bowie, his incarnations and interests are many, but Ferry actually travels much further out of the rock realm than Bowie does. This is evident on his first solo album, These Foolish Things, from 1973. This all-covers album allows Ferry, whose career fronting Roxy Music was his main focus at this time, to roam freely over all sorts of material, including Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, the Beach Boys and Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. Hearing the singer pull off "Sympathy for the Devil" is worth the album itself.
