In the fall of 2006, for reasons unknown, Tristan Zimmermann found himself in his Toronto studio playing with a bugle and an iPod. As anyone would do in that situation, he inserted the earbud of his MP3 player into the mouthpiece of the horn and was astounded by the volume and quality of sound which spilled from the bugle. Immediately he set about designing a series of passive (no additional power required) amplifiers for digital devices. The phonofone III represents the 3rd iteration of phonofone design, and the first which was designed exclusively for iPhone. Like its predecessors, this product uses the same passive amplification principles to transform the audio emitted from the built-in speaker of the iPhone. All phonofone III's are hand-crafted in Toronto, Canada and are compatible with all models of iphone to date. Tristan Zimmermann continues to design, dividing his time between his own creations and helping others to realize theirs.
