Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Ereader I Ever Had This is the best ereader I have had so far (I have not used the Kindle Voyage). I got it on Black Friday for $99 ($40 off the regular price of $139) bundled with a free sleepcover ($39 value). It's much shorter than the Kindle and Sony ereaders although the screen is still 6". It's noticeably lighter, thinner, and easy to hold and grip with one hand (the back has a tiny diamond pattern and subtle angle contour that comfortably fits my small hands). It feels like someone shaved the Kobo mini in half, that's how thin and light and small it feels. I loved the size of the Kobo Mini because it was so easy to slip into my purse, so I find the size of the Kobo Aura to be even better. Without the bezel it feels super smooth and small. I buy some ebooks through the Kobo bookstore, but I'm not fond of accidentally syncing hundreds of the ebooks through Kobo onto my ereader, as I prefer to use the tags and series that I have created through Calibre. I have about 550 ebooks sideloaded onto my Kobo Aura, added in several batches at a time. You have to log into a Kobo account before you can use the Kobo Aura, but once I did that, I turned off the wifi and disabled the automatic syncing so I wouldn't have duplicates and messed up bookshelves. The Sony and Kindle NonTouch ereaders allow Calibre to automatically sort books into collections/shelves. My main grief with the older Kobo models and the Kindle Touch models is that the collections/bookshelves couldn't be automated through Calibre, requiring me to painstakingly scroll through many, many pages of listed books to add the books one at a time to a particular shelf. I got so fed up with this that I returned the last Kobo, Nook Glo, and Paperwhite 2 that I had. With the Kobo Aura, I could use the Kobo Touch Extended Driver plugin through Calibre to automatically place ebooks onto shelves on the Kobo Aura. So I sided loaded my ebooks and once the Kobo Aura was done processing the books, all the shelves were created and filled accordingly with my ebooks as I had designated in Calibre. Hundreds of ebooks and 95 shelves, all sorted and placed with a few clicks! The light is on par with the Kindle Paperwhite 2 or better. Best of all, you can enable "two-finger swipe to adjust brightness". You just stroke up or down with two fingertips to change the brightness. This is great if you only have one hand free. There is a button on top to change the brightness, but it requires two hands - one to hold the ereader and the other to press the button. You can also change the brightness on the menu but it requires several touch commands. I gave up on the Sony and Kindle NonTouch ereaders because they had no built in lighting. I gave up on the Nook Glo and Kindle Paperwhite because they were too bright in complete darkness. The last few books/collections/games are shown as dismissable tiles on the homepage. This allows one touch navigation back to the recent items. The tiles were very cool. Having to navigate multiple menus to get back to a recent book was always a pain for me. You can choose to change font size with a two finger pinch, but I didn't need that so I disabled it. The Kobo Aura has really great character display. There is a gradient so that you can choose the font size, type, etc. Even better, you can choose the margin size (I like really narrow margins), line spacing (I like less white space), and even neater, you can choose the "weight" (the thickness) of the font. I like really black, thick font for easy reading (such as on the Kindle NonTouch), so this was really ideal for me. There is a slight delay sometimes as the pages change to a different menu or book, but I don't really notice it. The previous Kobos had a lot of social media, prizes, comments that you could make to other people about the books that you were reading. I wasn't into any of that. Thankfully, in this Kobo Aura, all the social reading stuff is no long a big button (or few) on the homepage, and I could turn off the tracking/commentary in the menu. The menu is easy to use and self-explanatory. There are beta features like simple games such as suduko, word scramble, web browser. Primitive, but they work. Basically, this ereader has it all. The price is fantastic, it has touch capacity, feels tiny, has great automation through Calibre, has expandable memory, a great adjustable light, and I can customize the font display just as I like it. I highly recommend this ereader.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great deal and incredible service from Chapters-Ancaster store! I purchased a Kobo Aura e-reader online during the Black Friday sale. It was a great deal with a $40 discount and an option of a free SleepCover. During the check-out process I accepted the deal offer and clicked on the black SleepCover to put it in my cart, and then I paid for my order and finished the process. My order arrived a couple of days later. When I opened the parcel, I noticed that the black sleepcover I ordered with my Kobo Aura was not included in the parcel. I went to my laptop and checked my order and saw that somehow the SleepCover was not actually in my order. I was dumbfounded. Later that day my husband and I were in Ancaster. I had my Kobo ereader and my order number with me. I thought I would go to the Chapters store there and see if they would give me a free Kobo SleepCover. I went to the counter and told the woman behind the counter my wish. She said she was not sure if it was possible, because the online store and the store are two separate entities. She asked another co-worker for help. The 2nd person was very kind and helpful. She told me that she would find a way to make it work for me. She went into the office and came back later with a man whom I assumed to be the manager of the store. He said to me, “Don’t you worry, we’ll make it work.” He explained to me that the way to do it is that I would return my order to the store and then purchase the same Kobo Aura ereader deal from the store. So we went ahead and completed the transactions. I came out of the store smiling with my Kobo Aura and my free Kobo SleepCover. I’m very grateful to the manager and the two women at the Chapters-Ancaster store who helped me. They genuinely care about their customers and will do everything in their power to make you feel important and appreciated. They made me a loyal Indigo customer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I have the Aura for a year now and didn't have any problem. Works great and reads great. I'm not sure what's the difference from the KoboGlo, but I decided to get the most recent one. I also have the sleepcover which I recommend. Regarding the battery life, I don't see anything wrong. I keep wifi off most of the time since I don't use it. Sometimes the Kobo seems like it's losing battery life fast, but I think it might be because my sleepcover warped (left it in the sun) and may be turning my Kobo on and off often while it's stored.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Kobo Aura HD keeps going back to factory reset about once a month when I turn on my Kobo Aura HD it goes to the restoring screen and performs a factory reset. this is very frustrating as I lose all my books and have to do the reset as if I am just opening it out of the box.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lucky to keep the battery charged more than one week I like the Aura, but I have to charge the battery at least once a week. Kobo's documentation claims more than two months of battery life. When I contacted Kobo Customer Support and after a number of emails they finally stated that, "These specifications to the battery life in your device is based on 30 minutes of reading per day, without the comfort light being used and your Wi-Fi turned off".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great read !!!! I just love my new Kobo Aura e-reader. I started out with the Kobo mini just to find out if I would like reading with an e-reader and I loved it and continued to read with it for a couple years. I recently changed to an Aura. I prefer the more compact size of the Kobo family e-readers as this one is only 6 inches tall. It is great and easy to carry in your purse !!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice! Recently upgraded to the Aura from the KoboGlo (previously had the touch, the wifi and the original). Really happy with my Auro. I have not experienced issues with it at all. Quick page turns, syncs fast, and easy to set up. Nice to have the capacitive on this model and the Pocket Integration is pretty handy. Once nice feature was the ability to zoom photos and maps in books. I don't have any screen issues with mine (neither does my Dad's). I love that it also works very well with the Ottawa Public Library. I just miss the nice cover I had for my KoboGlo. They don't have the super nice grey fabric one for the Aura (not yet at least).
