I bought this teether for my baby but he didn't like chewing on it he kept spitting up. The teether smells like an eraser. I know it must be natural but some babies don't like it as it is with any product or toy.

I know people complain about the price of Sophie, but believe me, it's worth every single cent. It's natural rubber, which is completely safe for the baby (but is expensive to obtain), contains no synthetics, & even the paint is food-grade so is also safe. Sophie originally was designed & made in France many many years ago & eventually was so popular that parents in North America demanded it be made available here. I've been through 3 babies - each with their own Sophie - & I'm also a Nurse-midwife who sees babies every day. This teether is the one thing you must have, if you're getting any teething toy at all! It lasts forever. Just don't lose it - the baby will not accept anything else, trust me!

I've seen this little toy in store and I do think my baby would like to chew on it. It is nice and pliable... The thing is, even though I can afford to buy this there is NO WAY I would pay that much for a piece of rubber that looks and squeaks like a dog toy. I don't even think I'd fork over half that amount. What has this world come to!?
